Many many years ago on a late holiday with the wife we looked in a shop window and GPL was on sale. I decided to buy it as a Christmas present for my son, one of the best moves I ever made. We had so many good times playing on that sim even though at the time our pc struggled to run it. My, how times have changed.
I now have Assetto Corsa and Project Cars and all sorts of other sims to run, but it's only been in the last year that I donated our original GPL disk to a local charity shop. Then we downsized house and all of a sudden I've got the urge to play it again. I do have an old cd with loads of files on that I saved from the original sim but couldn't do anything with them to actually get anything playable. Then I found the 2020 Demo which I downloaded and installed on a spare ssd. I read a lot of stuff about getting it to run on Win10 but to be honest I'm having some difficulty.
I can start the program, select a car and enter driver details, alter graphics settings and set my wheel up but when I try to drive a car it all goes a bit haywire. On OpenGL I get an excellent graphics setting, can sit in the cockpit and turn the wheel but gearchange and pedals won't work. On D3D which is the option I thought would be best there's not a lot works at all and although I can set it all up and select a car etc once I click to drive everything is on the verge of crashing and I have to use Task Manager to get back to the Desktop.
Edit: After posting I found this in the Rastlog.txt file. "DirectXError at .\DisplayDirectDraw7.cpp:403 hr=0x887602F8"
I'm running a Ryzen 5 3600 with 16 gig of ram and although my graphics card is an old Radeon R9 380 it runs well on other sims.
I have a feeling some of the patches aren't installed correctly.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I did a video where I focused on the damage model on officially licenced Porsche Cars in Automobilista 2!
I think the fact that famous manufacturers start allowing to damage their car models in sims, is a great step foreward towards more realism!
I've been waiting YEARS to finally get this..
Hope you enjoy it!
And thank you for watching..

I think these mods simulate something that is not available in GPL and I have had a little too much fun the last week or so learning how to drive these little things fast. I made a quick video last night showing off the F3 cars at his Südschleife track, I really wish we had this one in GPL!
