Blade Runner is my favourite film of all time. So atmospheric, so prescient about the way technology can turn bad, and how technology can be abused by humans. And Rutger's performance is amazing. I'm amazed that he didn't get more recognition after playing Roy Batty.

I would rather say : And how humans can be abused by technology... But perhaps it's the same thing...

Anyway, that was an amazing movie... With Rutger in his best role.
In the style of humanity in the midst of a technological scientific delirium, I also really liked "Brazil"...

I also passed that sad news.
He was 75 years old and died because of a short, severe illness.

R.I.P. Mr. Hauer you played the bad guy perfectly. :bowdown2:

Well said Keith. One of the greatest if not the greatest actor our country has produced. Underrated actor and admitted himself choosing scripts wasn't his best thing.

I would also recommend Turkish Delight (Turks Fruit, 1973) to all Hauer fans. It's still the most succesful dutch movie in theaters here. It's based on a novel by Jan Wolkers. There are some very progressive elements in that film for that era as well, even when it was the 70s.

Last time I saw him in a movie couple weeks ago was in The Sisters brothers, ironically he died in that movie as well...

After watching The Hitcher, Rutger Hauer became the villain of all villains to me. To this day villain = Hauer.

Rest in peace Mr. Hauer.

Michiel de Ruyter (2015) in which he plays supporting role is also a must see. Fantastic film about Dutch history and with a high production value. I believe it's even on Netflix in Europe.

I will always remember him as 'Floris' from the TV series, even though that was recorderd far before I was born.

A seriously cool guy. Up there with Steve McQueen and Jim Clark.

I will miss them all.

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die.

RIP Rutger Hauer. A class act for sure.
