Hello Stefan, depending what you want to race. If you're interested in racing a realistic 1967 season against the AI, it doesn't

But if you want to race online, hotlapping or race against the AI with a generic carset, yes, it does ;)

Ah.  OK.  Thanks for that, mcmirande.  I'll use an easily distinguishable file name so as not to confuse the two.

Mod is great!  :)

Yes, it can race the Papy tracks or the Historical V2 tracks in Championship mode depending on how you set it up. It won't be as accurate in the car numbers, drivers etc, but the mod physics and tracks will work. I have both ways setup.

I still like the Papy physics better. These cars feel like they have the grip on the 69 cars but they're fun to drive.

It would appear that if I want to continue to record my Historic Mod V2 laptimes on the "GroundHog" (freeleo.hu) website (and compare them to other drivers), I will be forced to install this update/mod. Before I commit to this, can somebody tell me what will happen to the 157 laptimes I have already accumulated driving the mod? It seems that the format of the laptime files will be changed in some way, because the website is now refusing to upload the standard Historic Mod V2 player.ini file (pla767.ini for carset 7, the latest and fastest). Does this mean my times might get wiped?

(Edit: I forgot to mention, I saw the note about the new "play67.ini" file which "allows for ranks". Will my 157 laptimes be transferred to this new file automatically? Or will I have to edit every laptime into that file manually?)

Also, I note that this update is centred around carset 6, not carset 7. Could somebody tell me why this is? Up to now, I have been driving carset 7 about 90% of the time.

Thanks for any help given.

This mod uses player file play67.ini. So I think you can rename/make copy of your original pla767.ini to upload laptimes.

New mod is basicly 1967 carset 7 as I see. But it has some different naming to separate it from original Historic V2 Mod. Marcos said it based on carset 6, but I see that it is carset 7. Maybe physics is from carset 6, I don't know.

I think the single difference between 6th and 7th carsets are the substitution of the BRM P261 with the P126 in the 7th...
The online edition contains the P261 as the 6th.

Until I know, Jani was thinking in the option of leaving both (7th carset and Online edition) in the Crank, but he was short of time to do it.

Even if remains only the online edition in the Crank, I suggested to Jani to wipe out only the laptimes of the BT20 and P126, because physics of all the remaining cars change very slightly and laptimes will not differ.

Cheers. Marcos

Ok, thanks for the quick replies Pavel and Marcos. At the moment I'm performing my regular full backup of my PC (including my GPL installation). When that's done I will try installing the new update, and have a look to see how the files are arranged. Then I'll try doing a few laps with different cars, and check how the laptimes are saved. I'll check out the BRM's and BT20 to see what changes have been made there. Then I will try to create a play67.ini file which has my old laptimes included, and see if I can get it to upload to the Crank site.

If necessary I will delete my old BRM and BT20 times, and re-do those laps to make sure they are genuine times for the revised physics. That shouldn't be too much hassle, and a lot better than having to re-do all my laps! :)

All that should take some time, so I will check back here occasionally to see if anyone else has added any further advice.

Thanks all for your help!

You guys don't feel this online mod has a lot more grip? I find these cars really easy to drive fast.

They have more grip at slower speeds and a more sudden lost of it when going faster (or the tyres are warmer). That's compared with the original 67's

Compared with the former 67x, I think the grip is the same, but maybe the loss of grip due to the temperature is a bit more gradual. Maybe Chris (who did the physics) could confirm it or not...

hehe, actually I felt the same... It's sad to discover that the improvement wasn't mine but probably of the tyres :)

Yes, i'm sure i'm not getting faster. I got going so fast at Nurburgring that I got sick to my stomach. I never got that before. The cars sure have a lot of grip at the speeds we do at the ring.
