On my PC (pretty fast and new) the CanAm AI's are flying (driving without rubber at their tires) until I get very close to them. Any suggestions what I should change?

Alter,
push Graphics button in GEM+ and put 100 as Detail level.
Then try to drive and see if your system can handle it.
If is too heavy, put 90.

Detail level works in steps so from 75 to 99 is the same

I am pleased to see some renewed enthusiasm on the CanAm71mod. The historical update will also, reasonably soon, be available. Mean while few shots of some of the new McLaren M8B/C/E historical skins being prepared by the team. :wave:

Well nothing wrong with GT mod, I like and often use it. It just need to be improved a bit (3do, some textures, dashboards, clean windshields...). I don't know why but GT mod is one of the less popular from GPL modders community. One day, I may plan to do something to this mod.

There's a thread here http://srmz.net/inde...772 which discusses cleaning the GT mod screens. Both Tato and I uploaded some files which will probably help - I suggest trying both sets to see which you like best.

G.Spinning (or any other member of the CanAm mod team), can you tell me if the .dat files for the CanAm cars will be changing as part of the historical update?

Or will it only be driver.ini, AI and other files which will be changing?

As you may have seen from another thread, I'm currently trying to make more CanAm skins available for hot-lappers in testing mode, to give a bit more variety. I'd like to carry on with this for cars that I haven't looked at yet, but if the .dat files are changing, then my efforts might be wasted. There are already a lot of nice skins in the McLaren M8C .dat file for example, such as the no.29 Vic Elford car shown in your screenshots. Could I carry on working on these, or would it be best to wait until the historical update is released?

Hi Saiph. The historical update will provide together with historically correct AI entry grids for the ten championship tracks, also all their car skins (and more), as they changed race by race. Furthermore, there will be new player and on-line skins also derived from the historical ones. So it will be plenty of new skins. In order to keep the update easy to be installed there will be new car dat(s).
In the coming days, while waiting for the release of spa67, I might post few shots of some of the new skins for each car folder. Here are some of the McLaren M8D. :wave:
