Is there a way to assign keyboard commands such as <F10>, <SHIFT> R or <ESC> to buttons on my steering wheel?  Sometimes my keyboard is unresponsive during a GPL session, but the wheel and buttons always work.  When my keyboard is unresponsive it's a problem when I wipe out and want to invoke the <ESC> command, or when I'm in traffic and want to use the <F10> command to see the cars around me.

Also, can I edit a configuration file to cause GPL to start by default in external <F10> view?

If you have a Logitech wheel, with Logitech Profiler you can create macros like "shift-R," and assign keyboard commands like esc and enter, to buttons on steering wheel as well as other commands such as look-left/right.

I use my G27 this way. Shift+R in just one button helps a lot and it's very easy to configure.

If you use Joy 2 Key make sure you run it as administrator.
