only thing to do to get GPL displays on triples screens ( 48/9) is to set SURROUND ON, using the Nvidia control panel.A video card with a triple Display Port is an advantage.
Here, GPL runs fawlessly and smoother than ever on a TRIPLE screens - 7680 X 1440
Steady 36fps / 60 fps, Back of full AIs grid, but that's the number of pixels displayed to render each object that makes the difference on what your eyes will perceive.Sharpness, and then 3D immersion is improved a step further.Mainly for 3D objects far in the distance . But hold your breath, as you'll experience a changing world.
1920 X 1080 = 2073600 pixels
3440 X 1440 = 4953000 pixels
7680 X 1440 = 11059200 pixels
4953000 / 2073600 = 2,39 times more pixels displayed
11059200 / 4953000 = 2,23 times more pixels displayed
11059200 / 2073600 = 5,33 times more pixels displayed.
Unlike modern games, GPL objects textures aren't that big( with some in 2048 or 1024), but your eyes will perceive the difference with so high changing steps.Anti aliasing in particular and lines are smooth as silk.
monitor frames / Bezels : you'll get very quickly accustomed to, being naturally busy to not notice them while driving. But recent monitors have thinner bezels.Bezels correction is easy to set.
No problem for the cockpit view, where you have very comfortable settings range for the FOV and the POV.(GPL Shift crossed with the new Head Movement Manager that both have different but complementary range for the FOV degrees settings, they expand it ! ) .You can even set your mirrors at the extreme of the side monitors; For the funny thing !
I didn't have to change the menus and replay buttons have no flickering with OGL V2. They display correctly on the fixed reso of 640 X 480 .Once you click on the green button, the game fits the 3 screens. Pribluda only needs to get tweaked to get the infos on the center screen.
Even if GPL doesn't support the multiview, my experience is that you get an improved immersion, seeing larger scenes around you, seeing tracks sides and even Ai's far away racing when the track change directions. The new Goodwood track is really fun for this ! You can both have a forward FOV setting for a precise look at the apexes, and see the opponents on your side. Those triple are a new teacher to help improve your cornering racing line !!
Immediate immersion change : you can set your cockpit as large as in RL, and while driving get the artificial sensation that your body and seat moves in a coordinated way.
To get 7680 on a single screen, the price of such PC monitor wld be extremely costly
....A TV becomes then an alternative solution. But after testing GPL on 4K Oled TV's in a shop,I felt pixel sizes are bigger, and it can be a little less smooth.Have you tried ? That's a different viewing experience;Another problem with big TV, and that the recommended distance between the TV and you isn't 83 cm, but far longer distance.
As I use GEM, once it is opened, I have only to adjust it by clicking on the squared button, and it goes immediatly on the center screen and adjust automatically to a full 2560 X 1440.
Last but not least... You'll feel, as I do, a lot less... CONFINED !
- At the start, you are at risk of a very disturbing motion sickness. You can reduce it by angling the monitors. But it won't cure it.It took me around one month and spaced out 40 short 15 minuts GPL sessions to get the habit, but I can say now it is a thing of the past with screens set flats; Please, if it happens, don't dispair; try it again and again, as, anyway, motion sickness don't arrive immediatly, but after a few minuts.
- If replays are important for you : only keep in mind that the image display is twice as large compared with a 3440 X 1440 Ultra Wide Screen . Then,TV1, TV2 and cars cams wld take advantage of being edited.
Not because objects are elongated and distorted ( so few,the AI's cars while they are on the sided screens edges ) , but because the upper and lower part of the cameras vertical field of view are cuts.
- a rather large room, but a triple screens holder can stay on a small wood stable sheet ( 45 cm large, here).I don't use the monitors stands.
