Holy smokes man, she's a real beauty!!   Best looking track out there after Avus,WG48 & Schottenring..  :D
John's the dude that inspired me to try out texture making as he was about to start working on Brem, when I was real small ... I wanted a Mosport add on pack..He replied he was too busy,so there it was, my first GPL add on, the first Mosport add on as well.   wtg John, your Monza's the best track ever made.. B)

anyone out there can post a hotlap replay?...please? :)

Hey Eric: A hot lap hell I don't even know when that'll be as I'm just having a blast with this course from launching myself up the turn and clearing the treeline  when all I'm doing is trying to master these turns at speed.

Here's a fix for any with a low frame rate issue at Monza 10k. Thanks John
Anyway, for those with CTD or fps issues try out this lower view distance track 3do. The view distance is 600m forward and 300m behind everywhere around the circuit. You will see some popup but it 'should' make things a bit more drivable.

I just tried it and it works fine on my end Jan! It's a 2.2mb zip of a fix for the Monza 10k
course as some had a CTD or like me a slow framerate and when I installed problem was solved. Or go here first & get the track mate!

Just in case you still need one...
Well, actually not as hot as usual but I really have BAD fps-problems although already use the 3do with the reduced draw-distance and switched to 1024x768...

heh , incase of reality avus is still the top notch :)

only a matter of places i had the chance to see in my teens :)

well aside from erics avus monza looks pretty good compared to the 6 b/w pics ive seen from that 57 or 58 off season indy races

anyways the area behind Nordkurve (AVUS) is still unbeatable in case of reality but Monza looks very very good ( dunno the reality since i´m far away from milano  :)  )

Just a couple of mips and another horizon that I think looks better and believe more realistic. Monza 10k is a work of art IMO. This is my favorite track in GPL.

Sorry Kenny, but when I finally got around to installing this update the sky did bad things.  I came back here and dl'ed it again.  Installed it again overwriting the first, and got the same bad stuff.  :(   Checked the mips in GPLImageViewer but they looked ok.  So I renamed your horiz.3do.  It worked!  There is a slight mismatch between the horizon and the sky.mip, but that is all.  Dunno what happened to that 3do.

When used with the reduced distance 3do and the Voodoo fix, this sub-image increase is my version of obtaining a more consistant frame rate. Other than the start/finish area,Monza10k now has very satisfactory performance the rest of the journey around the track on my older computer.

I downloaded that already some months ago, and have been enjoying the track immensely ever since. The graphics are stunning and fairly soft on the FPS. Would be awesome if these graphics could be carried over to the several other Monza versions. Thomas did a superb job there, brought Monza to life with this update.

A lap I recorded in Fraps. Graphics look slightly better in game, I haven't gotten Fraps to properly record videos yet:

I too would love to see these amazing textures carried over to the regular Monza.

Along with the upcoming new Spa, soon to be updated Ring, Mosport Rain, updated Kyalami plus all the others we would have the complete 67 set as historically good as they could be.
Saying that I just remembered Bugatti hasn't had an update lately, although someone was talking a while back about Le Mans getting a makeover so who knows........

Thomas Laechele is a real artist, but his work is mostly "underground", like a gem to discover maybe.
I have most of his updates installed (don't have all the tracks), the textures are almost as - or even better - than modern sims imho (taking in account that GPL graphics engine is very old obviously). Don't forget his cars textures; I have the Lotus update (ver. 1.4 if I remember well, but newer version is available too), and I remain simply astonished every time I go with that car (no, I don't exaggerate). And I can confirm that despite some big files the updates are not fps-eater, even on my 7 years old PC (but I suspect that low fps depends mainly on 3D models charged on the CPU rather than 2D textures files).
