Dear GPL-ers.

Inspired by a recent, impressive AiO update for '66-'67 Mosport Park, made by Leon_90, G. Spinning and G. Liebzeit, here is my little Franken-update for St Jovite. "Franken-update", because it's only a quick and dirty re-texturing job, courtesy of aforementioned Gentlemen, who agreed to share their textures for this mini project.

Having no experience in track modding whatsoever, I was unable to fix inherent issues of current St Jovite (holes in the terrain mesh, wrong armco and runoff positions, any layout & elevations inaccuracies etc.). Also, not knowing how to edit transparencies, I was unable to perfectly trim some trees here and there... yet. Nevertheless, even a simple adoption of excellent Mosport high-res textures brings St Jovite closer to the feel of its more famous, Canadian circuit-brother for these GPL-ers, who prefer a bit warmer, autumn-like colour palette.

Credits:

A big "thanks" goes to:

1) Leon_90, G. Spinning and G. Liebzeit (plus others, who's work was used in their Mosport update) - for Mosport textures, which served as a resource base for this mini project (asphalt, grass, trees, armco); also for the Can-Am '66 & '71 specific St Jovite files they made cooperating with Ginetto: 3do fixes, building, banner, spectator textures and GEM files (don't forget to check the sub-folders with optional files and use the ones You need!);

2) Eric Bourdouin for stjovite.dat and all the rest of the terrain taken from his first update of this circuit. I only modified horizon and rock textures a little so that they would blend with new ones a bit better;

3) Remy Roesz and Thomas Laechele I presume? - a single grassy bush and a single pine tree texture, taken from their work on Road Atlanta '71;

Installation:

The archive contains files intended to be dropped into a clean, vanilla StJovite install. However, they will also work when applied over the previous G. Spinnig's, G. Liebzeit's & Co. '71 update, overwriting originals.

There's always hope that one day, more thorough StJovite rework will see the light of the day. Until then however, have fun with this little update!

Yours truly,

Art

Really nice work mate! Hope it'll be the first step to a complete rejuvenation of this track!

As a side note, why not working on all people and public too? :) some of them are still low-res as seen in pic #5. You can find plenty of textures avalaible for free over the repository ;)

much thanks Art!

wondering if anyone has it on their list to fix, some of the 'invisible' off track obstacles that can be encountered at this track?  it appears 'green' but if you slide wide it seems like you hit a guardrail ~

If anyone has Amazon Prime video, there is a movie made by James Garner called "The Racing Scene".  The final race in this movie shows very excellent footage of St. Jovite's Le Circuit in 1970.  There are really great in-car shots and overall views.  Must see!!!  :)

A bit late but thanks very much for this. I completely forgot to install when you first posted and just remembered it the other day for some reason. Installed and the track now looks much better. :thumbup:

Would love an autumn (fall? haha) option for the trees like it was for the 1968 GP but I am only dreaming.
