Is silence here a means to sustain AC against all odds ?

Thks Hagapito .. GPL has been so influential in sim racing world, an inspiration for the best or the worse.

Just a tip Hagapito, do not read PRC ;)

With payware mods, things are simple. Do not buy them. Do not support them. Unless they come from very respectful and well known modders, like Race Sim Studio, which create original quality content. This applies to all sims. Payware mods have alway been a thing. I remember my father complaining about them with Red Baron 3d in the late nineties. Just don't spend money on them, as I said. Problem solved :D

hagapito, dou you realise the shock i had when in my daily load of SRMZ and the two first words i see are "Anarcho Capitalism"

Now talking seriously and leaving politics apart, i agree with leon, just don't buy them. I think it's almost impossible to get rid of them, they will be there always, the best thing we can do is not support them. Also agree with not to read PRC

Things like these make me appreciate GPL and his community even more

By the way, it seems the entry is from November 2015  So the problem's been there for quite a long time, a shame for AC, should have been a great game :( .

I read EVERITHING...with no fear to find an opinion that i not sustain...not only about simracing...

and is not as simple as ...if don´t like it don't buy it... at least for developers, that need the work to live.

I knew there was something I couldn't see that I didn't like about AC and others. I also knew GPL was my true home.

Good to see my inner voice wasn't wrong. Sometimes the world blows!

I also remember a 1937 Grand Prix mod for AC that you had to pay for, while it was a complete rip-off of a rFactor mod. And the original makers weren't even informed, stuff like that pisses me off too.

Wasn't rFactor and GTR2 in it's golden days full too of ripped and payware mods stolen from F1c, GPL, NR2003 and so on?
It seems like this is a problem that came to be just now, just on AC. Is it Kunos fault, or ISI fault, or Simbin fault, if people use their software for bad purposes?
What is the point of this discussion?

I also read everything, listen to people's opinions, weigh up the facts that are being presented (or maybe misrepresented) and make up my own mind as best I can, but with one exception............

PRC ;)

I have no recollection about ripped payware being a major problem within rF and GTR2 circles, and I've been around since those games were new. There are a lot of ripped stuff around, sure, but I can't recall seeing people trying to make money off of them.

It's a really sad situation, and it doesn't seem to have gone away. What we should do as a community is to inform people that you are happier to stick with freeware, and to call out the scammers.

exactly! Just do not support ripped mods!
That is what RaceDepartment does. Whenever a ripped mod is uploaded, it gets blocked. You never see any stolen content available there.

Cheeveer they might have been free, but what about all the ripped GPLEA cars and tracks ported to rFactor? Just as an example. Ripping mods always existed. Sometime they were also on sale
