With that in mind, here's a shot from today's football game:

A melancholy moment of validation and 22-year triumph for Dave K and iRacing.

Watched the NASCAR race cheering for simmers. Then watched Martin Granberg on iRacing live stream.

Thanks.

Sadly that wasn't iRacing but F1 2019.

I wish iRacing would get a F1 license, because that Codemasters "simracing" is quite boring in my opinion.
What NASCAR is doing is really cool by the way, same for IndyCar.

If any comany could get theirselves a license from F1 and make a solid product on the first go hopefully it'll put some pressure on Codemasters.
I think they're still good games (F1 2019 arguably the best in the series imo), but they still fail to get the online sorted after so many years, and get a bit stale, among other issues.
Some competition would do them good, I think. iRacing would be a good contender.
Or something else. But please no EA!

I remember a time when multiple publishers could get a license, Atari, EA, Sony, Infogrames etc. That resulted in some great variation from realistic (Grand Prix 4) to easy accessible arcade (Grand Prix Challenge).

Even EA had decent F1 games once, F1 Challenge that was made ISI is probably their very best. F1 2000 on the PS1 was my very first "serious" racing game and quite good for it's time.
But I fully agree they do not deserve to get the license again with how their games are nowadays.

Yeah, I remember those games. They were all solid. Younger me had wished F1 Career Challenge came to the PC as well, but it's the console variant unfortunately.
UbiSoft also made two pretty good titles. I think F1 Racing Simulation might be the first F1 race sim, but I don't really know that.
Wouldn't trust it on them, though, giving uPlay is a piece of junk and I fear the game will fall in that bracket.

Outside of Pole Position the first F1 game I recall was Grand Prix Unlimited, sponsored by Road & Track magazine.  A full season, all teams, cars, and tracks, plus a track creator ...all on one floppy.

Electric Football!

I purchased a vintage 620 set this past winter. Also picked up some vintage Tudor KC Chiefs set. (Lifelong Chiefs fan.) Played with it some, but it's packed away right now. Seems to me that EF has the potential to be a fun solitaire-type game.

I remembered these from my grammar school days (needn't discuss how long ago that was),  was surprised to find the company is still in business -
