This is generic for GTR2.  In the aud files you can control the level of each sound with a number placed after the "=", but I have forgotten the syntax for this.  Hopefully someone here remembers.

Here is a rFactor example, GTR uses the same gain (greater then 1.0) and attenuation (less then 1.0) syntax:

// ENGINE SOUNDS (OUTSIDE)
VS_OUTSIDE_POWER_ENGINE_1=1.2,HISTORICFIAGT\cortinaout\v1c.WAV
VS_OUTSIDE_POWER_ENGINE_2=1.3,HISTORICFIAGT\cortinaout\l4d.WAV
VS_OUTSIDE_POWER_ENGINE_3=1.6,HISTORICFIAGT\cortinaout\l5g.wav
VS_OUTSIDE_POWER_ENGINE_4=1.9,HISTORICFIAGT\cortinaout\m3b.WAV
VS_OUTSIDE_POWER_ENGINE_5=1.9,HISTORICFIAGT\cortinaout\h1d.WAV

VS_OUTSIDE_COAST_ENGINE_1=0.7,HISTORICFIAGT\cortinaout\cortina_offidle_ex.wav
VS_OUTSIDE_COAST_ENGINE_2=1.4,HISTORICFIAGT\cortinaout\ol1d.WAV
VS_OUTSIDE_COAST_ENGINE_3=1.2,HISTORICFIAGT\cortinaout\om3g.WAV
VS_OUTSIDE_COAST_ENGINE_4=1.7,HISTORICFIAGT\cortinaout\om2d.WAV
VS_OUTSIDE_COAST_ENGINE_5=1.7,HISTORICFIAGT\cortinaout\oh1e.WAV

That's what I thought.  But it seems GTR2 is reading the number and comma as part of the file name, finds nothing, so no sound is played.
