Hello there.

Is it possible to adjust vertical position of driver's point of view for individual car without some in-depth knowledge of 3do files editing? I suppose not, but I'll ask anyway.

Spending again some more time with '71 CanAm mod lately, and watching photos of the real M8F I came to conclusion that either fences in the cockpit 3D model were modelled a tad too high, or driver's position is a tad too low (I have no complaints about external model), making spotting the lower cars driving door to door with me almost impossible. I'd love to elevate the view point a little higher. I know I can do it globally via GPLShift, but I don't want to mess up all other cars and mods (have been using a single install for all GPL content).

Cheers,

Art

Hi Art.  I believe that there is an alternate mirror position lotus.3do file in a sub-folder for the M8F (lotus).  It moves the right-side mirror forward to a non-lifelike position, where it is usable.  Most of the other cars also only have the right-side mirror usable in a default lifelike position.  Have a look.  :)

I believe that with GPLshift you cannot do a global change for vertical POV.
If you activate in GPLshift.ini the line:

[ DRIVER VIEW ]
Up&Down = 1

then by using  left SHIFT key with ARROW keys you will be able to raise the view by pressing the up shift arrow on the keyboard once you are in car.

If you exit GPL then reenter, it will be back to default and you will need to readjust to your preferred POV.

Is just the FOV (zoom) that can be set as default view.

Does CarCamEdit work with the Can-Ams?
If so it would be an option?

I believe that CarCamEditor only adjusts the replay camera views and not the driving view.

Hi Greg, I know about alternative mirrors, but they aren't quite what I was asking about :D (though they do improve spatial awareness I'm sure). I just want to be able to see something "over the fence" so to speak, when looking left and right, and not feel like a midget behind a steering wheel ;).

@ Ginetto, thanks for correction. I was more interested in finding some permanent solution, without the need for adjustment every time I enter the car, but I guess this one will do for now.

Maybe I'll try to download this 3doED thingy later and see what it does and if it can help.

Is GPLTrackEditor that can modify the POV permanently; not 3doED. :)
Not a simple job if you never used it.

That's right.
You can select one of them in player.ini.
No mirrors however...forgot about that.

Hi Art,

I've only just seen this thread. In case you're still looking for a permanent solution for an individual car, have a look at GPLSA and use its Driving View Editor.

That's the one I used to adapt some of the 67Historic-Mod-cockpits to my life-size screen, as GPLShift doesn't work for this mod. GPLSA was written for the original Papy-cars only, so you have to give your M8F-3do a name of the original cars first and rename it after modification (back-up first, as usual).

Gordon
