I have the irridux '68 carset working fine in gem, while looking around my old gpl folders I found a zip file '68carset wingsettings' with a carsec68.lyt file and its associated drvtr68w.pbf file, I have put these into my layout folder, I then edited my gpli8.cst file to add carsetup = carsec68. I still don't get the wing settings to appear on the setup screen, do I need to do anything else ?.

You need to delete the gplc68.exe and let Gem create a new one.
Otherwise the changes won't be applied to the exe.

:straight-jacket:

If you read every post in this thread, this has got to be one of the weirdest on SRMZ.

Martin, many thanks, how often have I forgotten to delete the .exe !. Setup screen now shows the wing settings, but they don't change I changed my gpli8.cst to use physics = 69-extra {and rebuilt the .exe] but still they won't change.     OK changed it to physics = GPL69 and now able to change the settings, easy when know.

Lol, I was going to ask if I was just too stupid to get the 68 set to work, guess I am! Has anyone got a ready-made set of files?

I have Irridux's 68 carset installed and running with gem+ with the 69mod carset and checked  the 68cars in the lower box in gem+. I have no 68 car pictures.   I need the other files sorted out.
I see that they are available in the 68 layout folder from the 68 download but I think they must be changed to use with gem+.

found this but no files with it. post number4

Pawgy

Hi Pawgy,

I really, really hope I can make this stick now because I've uploaded this stuff for three or four times now only for it to get lost again in the various forum crashes Posted Image .

I'm guessing you already have all the files except the ones by X5 494. Those are the ones you need to make 1968 carset compatible. To use it:

1) Extract zip to a temporary location.
2) Place the file 'gplc68.cst' into your ...\SIERRA\gpl\Mods\GEM+ folder
3) Place the files from the extracted layout folder into your D:\SIERRA\gpl\layout folder
4) Place the files from the extracted sound folder into your D:\SIERRA\gpl\sound folder
5) Place the pictures from the extracted pictures folder into the right car folder:
-- cars68.jpg should go into your D:\SIERRA\gpl\cars\cars68 folder
-- cars68_0.jpg should go into your D:\SIERRA\gpl\cars\cars68\brabham folder
-- cars68_1.jpg should go into your D:\SIERRA\gpl\cars\cars68\brm folder.
etc.

It could also be that they have the be named 'gempic', so if they don't work rename them to that.

EDIT: Make sure you rename your driver_cars68.ini to dric68.ini after you're done installing everything else.

 Tommie.

http://srmz.net/inde...321

So in addition to the files made by X5 494, you only need the 'cars68' car folder (placed next to the 'cars67' folder, so inside the generic 'cars' folder) and the driver_cars68.ini renamed to dric68.ini (placed next to the driver.ini inside the GPL root folder), which should be in the download link in the first post of this thread. You can also download the cars one by one from the link in this post and assemble the 68 carset folder cars68 yourself, in which case, don't forget to place a mirror.mip file next to the car folders ('brabham' 'brm' 'coventry' etc)

Hope this made sense :) .

Thanks, but I don't have a sound or pictures folder - perhaps the download is incomplete.

There is a sound folder included with the X5 494 68carset files. Place the files inside that folder into your GPL sound folder. There is a pictures folder inside the X5 494 68carset archive as well, place those pictures in their respective car folders.

So just to recap:

1.) Get the cars68 car folder from the first post in the thread, or by assembling it by hand from here http://srmz.net/inde...321 in which case, don't forget to place a mirror.mip file next to the car folders ('brabham' 'brm' 'coventry' etc). Place inside the GPL 'cars' folder, so next to the 'cars67' folder.

2.) Get the driver_cars68.ini file from the first post in the thread, or here http://srmz.net/inde...321 . Place inside root GPL folder, next to driver.ini file. Then rename driver_cars68.ini to dric68.ini.

3.) Get the file 68carset_files X5 494 from http://srmz.net/inde...321 . Follow further instructions below:

etc.

It could also be that they have the be named 'gempic', so if they don't work rename them to that.

4.) Open up GEM+, go to carsets, and move the 1968 Grand Prix (1969) to the active carsets column. 1969 is in brackets because it uses the physics from the 1969 mod part 3 (the original 1969 mod with 7 cars, not the 1969-Extra mod with more cars). If you don't have the 1969 part 3 mod, GEM+ should move the physics to 1967 by default. Press 'OK' to get out of the carset popup window.

5.) Choose 1968 Grand Prix and the player of your choice in GEM+ and press the GPL button to go racing!

 Tommie.

Yes, you have everything except the 68carset_files X5 494 from http://srmz.net/inde...321 .

Create a folder named cars68 and put the 7 car folders inside that folder. Then, don't forget to place a mirror.mip file next to the car folders like is the case in the other car folders like cars67.

Then just follow the steps outlined above to make everything work.

Because the installation of this carset can be a bit of a hassle I've made myself a complete backup with all of the needed files that you can just drag and drop to the GPL directory. It works straight away after adding the carset in GEM, no renaming or adding other files needed. It also got the teamlayout (beta) fix and both of the wing options for the brabham included.

If anyone is interested in the Irridux 1968 it could be uploaded here maybe?
