I've been quite a fan of the Codemasters's F1 series. I've been playing it for what must be over a thousand hours altogether. (my Steam says I played F1 2017 for +360 hours!!)
Career mode has always been a game mode for me that can really make me stick to games if they are good.

Since F1 2016 they have been developing the game significantly.
For F1 2017 I got quite hyped with the progress they have been making and the features that came with it. So much I pre-ordered it.

Now F1 2018 is not far away and once again I am really hyped and is it already in my game library.
The career mode looks even more immersive and complete than it has even been before.
Not only that, from watching the diaries they published, I notice that they push the game slightly further to sim racing, which is what I'm pretty excited about.

UPDATE: First bunch of reviews have come out, some have lauded it as the best F1 title yet.

I used to play those games in coop championship with my brother from 2012 up untill F1 2015, that was always a lot of fun. F1 2016 had terribly slow gamepad steering that made certain track almost impossible and since than I lost interest in the series. Now I have a wheel maybe I should give it a try again, is the force feedback any good?

Also wonder if the coop championship mode against AI still excists, I know online races against random player were always a wreckfest.

Personally, I'd say it is pretty good. Just don't put it all max.

Online Championship mode exists, you can set it to open and private in F1 2017.
I don't see why it wouldn't be on F1 2018.
Speaking of which, it will have a safety license feature which'll give an indication if you are a safe driver or a total knobhead.

Cool, I will install F1 2016 later this weekend to give it a try with the wheel. I don't know if I will get 2017 or the new game anytime soon, but it sure sounds like fun to do a coop/online championship again.

I know that big part of sim racing community hate F1 games for being "simcade"... But I really like how immersive they are with how they present career. You really feel like a driver.
F1 games are the best "career" simulators.

That voice activated race engineer feature in their games is awesome.

Track boundries in some editions are laughable, they should do something about it, I dont know how its going to be in 2018. In single mode it doesn't matter, but for competition online it should be finetuned better.

I don't think any sim racing title in 2018 should be released without online mode matchmaking similar to iRacing/SRS/GT Sport.
Same goes for VR support.

Anyway, F1 games are really good value and lots of fun, if you buy them discounted when they go on sale

The interview regarding Physics with the Senior Car Handling Designer David Greco sounds really promising.

I haven`t driven a F1 Codemasters title for ages, but maybe the time has come now to start again.

It will also feature 20 classic cars.

I've also done some F1 2017, it's a fun game, but it's been a while I did load it up. I might do it next week driving Spa a bit in prep of the F1 race. My career is just past halfway in my first season with McLaren. I've demoted Alonso to 2nd driver.

If you are a bit aware of the modern F1 YouTuber community, they have also scanned faces of the popular ones within them.
They are fitted in as mechanics for the teams. See if you can spot them!

Yes, but we all know that even the recommended specs won't always run at full graphics.

I have all the spes beat pretty bad except my vid card is a 1060. We know it will take more to run at full bore. Not a reason to not buy it. Just what to expect.

I would need an upgrade, videocard. I can barely run F1 2017 in single screen. But current setup is good enough for triple screen GPL. Also AMS is hard on my system, barely triple screens. To be fair I do mostly GPL, and F1 2018 is no priority.

I tried F1 2016 with the wheel today but the force feedback feels terrible in my opinion. I was kind of expecting it to be a bit numb since it's not a hardcore simulator, but this was dissapointing. I would rather play it with a gamepad if I could and the steering sensitivity was as it were in F1 2012 or 2015.

But now I have a wheel I'll stick to the non-official options in rFactor 2 and Automobilista, I find those much more enjoyable. rFactor 2 also has fantastic AI drivers, but saldy no championship mode.

The F1 2016 FFB is bad. I have played it as well on the wheel and especially over the kerbs I have no idea what its doing. Sometimes it seems to stay stuck to turning left/right.
F1 2017 however is way better, guaranteed. And for what I've heard F1 2018 should also have great FFB with the new physics systems.

Can't really quote on F1 2012 and 2015 because my wheel (G920) doesn't function properly on either.
