Sorry if this has been discussed but a search of "force feedback" here returned nothing. When using the patcher for the terrain there is an option to apply a force feedback patch, what does it do?  I already get great feedback through my wheel and don't want to play around and stuff things up.

The force feedback patch changes various values to your player.plr file. It is how we think P&G should be experienced.
But fear not, you can apply it and it will create a backup. You can test it and see if you like it, and if not, then run the patcher again and you can recover the backup of your original settings. :)

 Thank you.  I always forget that I have a backup on an external hard drive that I can revert to but from the sound of it, I won't need to use it.........this P&G thing just gets better and better as you discover little things. :D

 It's Great. I wasn't sure if I felt a difference at first but I had turned my force feedback turned down so I could run a large field at Le Mans without frame rate issues, but when I turned it back up, man it felt good. One less thing to fine tune. Thanks.

Added the PnG mod, added the 2.1 updater, then added the FFB update...CTD.  All worked fine after the 2.1 update.  What do I do now?  What could have gone wrong?  Thanks for your help

Does it work if you take the FF patch off?

Thats pretty weird.  FFB patcher is a pretty simple text file patcher (well, it should be , but thats not one of my tools), so it shouldn't create problems.

You didn't tell if you had XP or Vista/Win7/something else ?  I've heard that Win7 NEEDS that NoCD patch really badly, so be sure you haven't accidentally started using the original GTR2.exe (would not start the main menu at all but crashes before that, IIRC).

Does it crash before the main menu or after that before a race session starts?

Maybe you havean invalid track or car combination installed?  I've been suffering from that (crashes after main menu when loading cars/tracks) now and then.  Quick test for that is this (will remove previous car and track selection):

1)
Locate your player profile (depends on your OS where it is).

· XP: [PNG installation folder]\UserData\[profilename]\[profilename].PLR
· Vista/Win7 (x64): %LOCALAPPDATA%\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\GTR2\UserData\[profilename]\[profilename].PLR
· Vista/Win7 (x86) NOTE didn't verify this path!! : %LOCALAPPDATA%\VirtualStore\Program Files\GTR2\UserData\[profilename]\[profilename].PLR

2)
Open the .PLR file, for example with a Notepad

3)
These keywords below should be right after the beginning headers/comments, edit them to look like these:

[ TRACK ]
Track File=
Track Description=
AI Database File=

[ DRIVER ]
Profile Vehicle File=
Vehicle File=
Reserved Vehicle File=

4)
Then save it.
