Just out now for rFactor: vintage Formula Ford mod, based on a 1970's Lola T340.

1600cc Engine has about 107 BHP and top speed seems to be about 238 kph / 147 Mph.

First impressions (done only a few laps with front camber dialed back to -1.2 to reduce oversteer) seem much improved compared to the old semi-beta version which appeared on mrnlonline, it's much less loose, more controllable/configurable and more forgiving.

It seems to be running on slicks though, ergo grip seems pretty high - did FF already run slicks in the 1970's? Or does this depict historic FF racing on current tyres?

Nevertheless, worth a look imho. If you've run FF (and especially these older ones) please let the modders know how it does compared to the real cars, so they could make any improvements!

FYI - have fun,
Rudy

1982 in Australia they were definitely racing on slicks so it is feasable they were running them in the 70's  :idunno:

Fords run on slicks in the States; Top speed seems close particularly when you ran at Pocono and Charlotte and had a bit of a draft. Never drove a Lola but some RSC folks I know did so I hope they chime in... I'll figure out a reinstall and download at some point. Bob

Now updated to V2.0 with rather a lot of little improvements. Including fixes for sounds, gearbox, tyre temps and brake balance/strenght (now adjustable), more realistic average top speed of 140 Mph max, faster load times and fps, etc.

Seems like a good update overall, laptimes in testing are pretty close to what these 1970's FF cars did in real life (like 1:12 at Westwood and low 1:30's at Mosport). Real fun to race at VLM's Mid-Ohio, Rouen or Zandvoort, for instance.

They may not look it, but these old FFord cars are actually pretty darn faaaaast. Just for giggles, I tried them on the Top Gear Test track and it will do a 1:23! That's right in the middle of the Zondas and Lamborghini Gallardo's - and with just 100 BHP...

(Note that I also did some comparison of real-life FFord laptimes to the mod - pretty accurate, like 56 seconds per lap at Lime Rock.)

Another check: An old FFord (and a 100+hp) ought to do 2:04s at the long course Glen with the NASCAR chicane.  :hat-tip:
