Gpl World Masters - 2021...?

28 Nov 2021

Posted by lalb2001 in GPL-"Hey, anyone need a racer?"
Hey all you GPLers out there,

we are approaching the end of 2021, time for a World Masters event, isn't it? Well, some of you probably thought the same at the end of last year/beginning of this year, however it just didn't happen... Looking back at the 2020 event thread, there were not that many replies, so possibly the event fell under the radar for many drivers?

This is why I am opening this preliminary thread out of the blue, to raise awareness long in advance before the event (which I suppose would be held somewhen around New Year's Eve?) and maybe get the organization/invites going (out) early to gather the best possible grid of GPL drivers for this event.

So this is not supposed to be an attempt at organizing the full event myself with the help of others, I am just curious to see whether the general interest is there and whether eligible (top 30) drivers have got time in the aforementioned time period.

So feel free to express your willingness to participate/clarify your problems with finding the time! If you're interested, perhaps also include suggestions for the event itself, like possible dates, the track, quali and race length, rules and so on. Maybe this way we can get this project rolling to finish this GPL year off properly!

Different Driver Faces In Online Races / Get Rid Of The Mouse For Capture A Replay

26 Nov 2021

Posted by Rudolf Goertz in GPL-"Help! I'm having trouble with..."
Hello, I am wondering if it is possible to have different faces for the players in online racing? Usually it is the plaface.mip which is the same for every driver. There are only different helmets. It seems that only the plaface.mip in the Brabham folder is used.

Furthermore I would like to get rid of the mouse which is showing up when I use camera control master. I would like to capture the replay on another pc because I am running GPL on an old machine with ccm and cannot record in high resolution during playback. Whereas the capturing PC is Win 10 and doesn't support camera control master... what a pity.

Any help highly appreciated :)

Problem With Gem+ And Gpl Setup Manager

26 Nov 2021

I hadn't used GPL Setup Manager in the past but I thought I would give it a try. I have been using the F2 Mod recently and so when I opened GPLSM in GEM+ I realized right away that the version I was using (v1.1.6) wouldn't work for these cars. Also, when GPLSM opened, it was stretched horizontally and squished vertically and is pretty well impossible to use. And the GEM+ screen went from being only on one monitor to being stretched over all three (I use TripleHead2Go) before becoming non-responsive.

I upgraded to GPLSM v2.7.0 but the same thing happened. Opening either version outside of GEM+ had the same result. Here is a screenshot of GPLSM opened in GEM+:

Posted Image

GEM+ works fine otherwise except that when I exit GPL, the GEM+ screen covers all three monitors instead of the single screen it occupies when first opened. But it remains responsive and a click or two gets its back to where I want it.

I've searched the forum but so far haven't found any reports of this particular problem. Here are my system specs:

Processor Intel® Core™2 Duo CPU E8500  @ 3.16GHz   3.17 GHz
Installed RAM 4.00 GB (3.25 GB usable)
System type   32-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Windows Edition Windows 10 Home
Version   20H2
Graphics Card    NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX+

I have had no problem running GPL itself using Windows 10 32-bit. My resolution is set to 4800 x 900 both within GPL and outside using my three screen setup. I tried 3840 x 1024 which is shown as "Recommended" in my display settings but that did not make any apparent difference.

I hope that this can be fixed and that someone can point me in the right direction. My apologies if this issue has already been addressed elsewhere.

Thanks in advance,

Bob Mackenzie

Don't Update To Wine 6.21

26 Nov 2021

For Linux users:
my Manjaro updated to wine 6.21 and GPL didn't recognize more than 4 axes after that, with one "empty". That is, I had wheel, throttle and brake, but not clutch. Also, the shifter wasn't recognized anymore and (I didn't try exhaustively but apparently) the paddles didn't work as well.

I downgraded to the oldest version I had in my caché, the wine 6.15, and everything works flawlessly again.

Just as a note, I tested again GPL in Windows, after more than a year, and I found it really ugly! Much more "softened" graphics, the FF giving me less useful information, and the axes having much less "steps" in their callibration (0-256 instead of 0-25000)

Evidently the Linux kernel and/or oversteer are doing a really good work :)
