When I use the No Letterbox Patch, some of the Pribluda metrics are displayed with a black background, others displayed with a transparent background.  I actually prefer the black background as some of it can be very difficult to read with the transparent background.  Does anyone know how to change it?

Thanks,

Stuart

Unfortunately, as far as I can determine, if you are using OpenGL, the Pribluda displays at the top of the screen will always display with a translucent background. Also, despite there being lots of configuration options in the pribluda.ini file, there doesn't seem to be any way to control the level of translucency.

If you're having problems reading the text, I think there are two things which might help:

( 1 ) Change the typeface used by Pribluda to a clearer one.

( 2 ) Edit the pribluda.ini file to make the text colours brighter.

When I first started using Pribluda many years ago, I experimented with using different typefaces, and I found Lucida Console to be a very good option. If you want to try it out, I suggest you edit the first part of your Pribluda.ini file so it looks like this:

[global]
version = 1.1.2.1
blackBarRatio = 0.104
boldFont = 0
borderSize = 5
defaultColour = 0xffffff
fontFace = Lucida Console
fontSize = 12
overlayBoards = 0

(Please remember to make a note of your original settings, or even back up the pribluda.ini file, so that you can revert back if anything goes wrong.)

In case you haven't found it, Amir Kamal wrote a user guide for Pribluda which can be found here:

https://www.amirkama...uda_readme.html

It explains which options are available, and their format. The trickiest thing to remember is when Pribluda expects colours in the hex format, the colour values are reversed, so the red/green/blue values are specified as "0xBBGGRR".

I hope that helps. :crossfingers:

Thanks Saiph for your reply.  I tried Lucida Console but found proportional spaced font not my liking.  So I went hunting for a non-proportionally spaced font but found Courier New the only one which comes with Windows.  So at the end of the day I ended up back at Currier New but making it bold seemed to help.  Also, I am running a font size of 24 as well which is necessary since I'm running 1920x1200.

[global]
version = 1.1.2.1
blackBarRatio = 0.104
boldFont = 1
borderSize = 2
defaultColour = 0xffffff
fontFace = Courier New
fontSize = 24
overlayBoards = 0

Do you use direct3DV2?

brr made the special openGL version of pribluda!

global]
version = 1.1.2.1
blackBarRatio = 0.1041
boldFont = 0
borderSize = 3
defaultColour = 0xffffff
fontFace = Consolas ; Lucida Console ;
fontSize = 12
overlayBoards = 0
outlineOpenglFont = 1
outlineOpenglFontSize = 12
outlineOpenglFontFactor = 1.8

Looks like

No, I'm using OpenGL Alex.  Looking at your image, it looks like you are using Olaf's Pribluda since the Ideal row from the sector times is missing.  With Lucida Console, the sector times don't line up because "I" is narrower than the "B".  It's close but not the same.  Also, under track position the relative distance doesn't line-up.  I wonder if it would under Courier New.

It looks like you are using the "Consolas" font with the "Lucida Console" commented-out.

Also, the 3 lines beginning with "outline" are unique as well.

Where can I find special version of Pribluda for OpenGL?  Or is just these 3 lines in ini file which make it unique?

Thanks,

Stuart

Stuart, I'm a bit confused by your comments about the Lucida Console font. Lucida Console is most definitely a monospaced font. I'm looking at the Windows font applet in the control panel, and I have the Lucida Console font displayed, and all the characters are exactly the same width. If you have problems with misaligned characters and/or misaligned columns I can't understand why. Are you sure you haven't selected another Lucida font by mistake, such as Lucida Sans? Are you sure you spelled "Lucida Console" correctly, with exactly the same capitalization as shown?

Here's a screenshot of my Pribluda display using Lucida Console. Yes, sorry it's a bit small but I prefer to use size 12 to keep the panels less intrusive. But you should be able to see that all the columns line up perfectly, both at the top of the screen, and the tyre temp display at the bottom. The text looks nice and crisp and clear on my screen at 1920x1080.

I'm confused as well Saiph.  I attempted to insert an image of my screen but it didn't work.  I used Photobucket back in the old days.  What does everyone use now?

This is from my ini file:

[global]
version = 1.1.2.1
blackBarRatio = 0.104
boldFont = 0
borderSize = 2
defaultColour = 0xffffff
fontFace =  Lucidia Console ;Courier New
fontSize = 18
overlayBoards = 0

It looks like you have a spelling error in the font name Stuart.

The correct name is "Lucida Console" (no "i" after the "d").

Pribluda is probably defaulting to the default font, Courier New.

If Stuart is seeing proportional characters in his display, Pribluda probably isn't defaulting to Courier New which is monospaced. I think it's more likely that Windows tries to do some "fuzzy matching" with the mis-spelled font name, and just uses the first font which matches "Lucid". On my PC that would be "Lucida Bright", which is a proportional font. Hence the spacing problem.

Use a bigger font size.
