Brain has said he's sorting it , the Ups on the server died he said . this did happen a few years back that cause an outage if i remember rightly so don't get too worried .

Bob the racelist software and igor are two totally different programs . the racelist software was written to run on a server .

Is there any news? Is the software available to run a Chat room and iGOR racelist. How many bps would you need to run it? It can't be much. It's just a list and chat. I'm going crazy with no servers to play with.

I saw an email from Brian Wong yesterday.  All he said was "this time we've had software trouble - a hack of some sort."

I guess that he's working on it.

painfully, no.
its like waiting for a known near complete track to be completed, or a new mod released. except in this case the only person that knows anything, is Brian W and after the only post of his discovery of a hack or virus (or are they the same thing?)  we know nothing new.
i'm guessing when its up we'll all know it.

i'm hoping that if it has returned, that its not due to a changed IP or some DNS thingy that Brian forgot to set/change/open :P

Thanks for the response. I wish there was a back up race list or something.

Does anybody have the racelist software? JR?

A hoster needs a DNS adress...

Lou Magyar is trying to get the hosting files also. As long as someone gets it going, even temporarily.

I seem to remember just IP addy at times. Not a DNS. I could be wrong though.

Hi all !

If i remember correct, both ways are possible for clients.

1st way - use a entry in the relevant client "igor.ini" for a DNS (this was the last we have and running for years)
2nd way - use the direct IP-adress in the relevant client "igor.ini" to solve problems with DNS-servers around the world (we do this from time to time in the past years)

I use over the years both methodes as client, both running well, without any difference on my client PC and igor work as ever, without any problem.

Unlucky, i did not know what the server must do and where to get the needed files for hosting igor-racelist.

Greetings

Achim

P.S.: Earlyer in this thread was reported the hoster has problems with DNS. So maybe a test (if possible) with the driect ip into the clients "iogr.ini" can work ? I am sure, clients installation of igor can handle the racelist with direct setting the server IP of the racelist host.

EDIT: Sorry, all this sounds irritating, but english is not my native language.

Achim, your English is a lot better than my German. So all we need is the program. I run a teamspeak serve and two iGor servers. I have more than one spare pc. My internet is 30 meg up and 30 meg down. I'd love to give it a shot to run it until it's fixed.

Hi Warren !

Thanks for your posting. Yes, we need first a running igor-racelist-server back.

I recommend highly to store the needed files and the knowledge to use it, at SRMZ or Repository or any safe place for the future.

Greetings

Achim

Did anybody try to contact Phil Flack to have info/tools about racelist server?

Once the tools/info are available about racelist hosting server; is maybe possible to have more than one list entry in the igor.ini file so if one is down you still have the other one(s)?
