In general, if it's a Brabham, a Cooper or a McLaren the handling will be forgiving.

No need to drive the Lotus 49 with a 30/30 diff. Actually, that wouldn't be a good diff setting. You're probably thinking 30/85/1 diff. Only the fastest guys can use that setting and they're doing it with LF braking so they can use throttle during braking.

You could drive the Lotus 49 with the default setup and beat the GPL Rank. Just take the fuel out of it. Use 3-4 gal for hot lapping or whatever you need to finish a race of any length. Maybe put the rear tires to 20 psi too. It's not a hard car to drive setup like that. Just be gentle with the throttle coming off turns.

I must admit I always use the strongest possible power diff setting otherwise I'm struggling with understeer at ever corner and I hate that.

I'm still enjoying the F2 McLaren M4A. A 60/60 diff with 2 clutches and another PB at Jarama. So much fun... Now I MUST try the other cars you suggest.

I'll try to get all I can from the setup to get rid of understeer and then it doesn't take such a strong diff setting to get the car to turn. I find that easier to drive and easy to drive is important to me as I just race full GP's. I strong diff is ok for hot lapping and shorter races but long races it doesn't work as well for me.

However, it works for you and that's all that matters.

I realise my diff settings are unusual but hey Pete, what works, works. 👍
