Sounds like I need to just bite the bullet and do a clean install of Grand Prix Legends. This is probably my original install carried over from multiple computers. Interesting comment regarding registry entries. What should I keep from my current install, besides setups?

My advice for a clean install of GPL would be start with the 2004 demo and upgrade it to v1.3. From there you can treat it like any other GPL install.

Tracks, Players(includes setups), can be copied over. GPL has a rather straight forward file system if you dig into the GPL folder. So keep the old install, as a backup. Install a fresh one from the demo and gradually move over the individual track folders as needed. Player folder can be moved as a whole, worst case the player wont load then you create a new one and just copy over the player.inis(PBs) and setups.

I would rather use the GPL Installer Beta 1.08 to update a fresh GPL game instead of the GPL 2004 Demo, because the GPL Installer Beta 1.08 has already newer, better files included than the old demo, like graphics updates.

Preempting the next question then; A GPL iso can be found on the internet archive if you dont have a CD.

For my tastes the 1.08 installer installs too many options all over the place you have to hunt down by hand if you want a lean GPL folder. If you dont care about that 1.08 is fine.

Thanks, all, for suggestions. I've had my original GPL for almost 20 years. So no prob there. I used the 1.08 installer. So far the original 67 cars and the 65 mod are working. Haven't tested online yet. I'm waiting for a server with 36 fps and what I have installed. :)

Been reloading mods and tracks at a leisurely pace. Today I found a server that is running a mod and track that I've installed recently: F2s at Sachsenring. Offline: a solid 36 fps. Online: ... Wait for it ... fps started to drop shortly after being in the pits for a couple seconds. Not as bad as before, however. Never got worse than 31 fps, most of the time from 33 to 35. I've opened all the suggested ports and turned off all the virus protection I can. I guess I can live with it until someone comes up with another idea.
