Is there another site to get the installer.
I need to do a reinstall and now RSC is down and so is the GPLPS site.
Got a problem downloading it.

dylan

RSC may be down once again, but GPLPS isn't. (The GPLPS installer is only available at their site - not RSC.)

I'm new to GPL and it's nice that I can get it up and running simply by installing this patch. Thanks!

@Bernd: How is the progress on creating (getting permissions) for a new (updated) version of the GPL all-in-one installer, including more of the great updates (graphic updates, programs, corner workers, smoke, sparks, ...) created by this unique community?

I installed 2 weeks ago using the beta that was available then, have any changes to the installer been made in the last 2 weeks that would make a reinstallation worth while?
It would be easy to do while I'm at this early stage.

No, there's no more changes Alan. Anything you might wish to be changed?

Ok, I've now got a working GPL67  :yeah: (widescreen menu issues posted elswhere) and installed a few extra tracks, I've crashed my way round Targa a few times :clap2: ; so what's next?  Do I install the 67 Patch? Do I install the 65 mod?  What order should things be installed over the GPLPS installer?  In particular I would like to get Tommie's Night Mod working as I could never get the Night Carset working before.  What is your advice?

Alan,
you have used the latest beta? The latest beta includes the 1967 1.3 patch so no need to do anything about it :)
The rest is to install the tracks first for the different mods. Hint to yourself: Prepare a 'What should the user do after the installation?' :D

To be honest no idea about the night mod. Should be interesting though for at least 24 Hours Le Mans ;)

Hi guys! Has there been any progress to the new installer during these months? I'm asking just because I don't see any new message here, I hope everything's fine. Thank you for your hard work!!! :)

I've just installed and used the installer - it's great!!  But when I tried to change my player by deleting him and doing a new one (with a different car) it tells me it can't save the player info and I can go no furtherPlease help, as I love racing with this sim!!

Usually the way to fix this is to

1) delete all players inside of GPL's players menu
2) delete the individual player folders in the gpl/players directory
3) create new players inside of GPL.

If you need to save certain files like the player.ini you can save them elsewhere and put them back in after you've created the new player with the same name, or copy and paste the PBs back in to the new player.ini.  However there is a good chance that any old files are corrupt and will cause the same issue, so make sure to back up the newly created files too.

Hey Bob, thanks a bunch! That did the trick!! Now I can have fun sliding all over creation again, the new F1 cars are a techno miracle, but they drive like slot cars - this sim is great!!!!
Thanks again . . . .

Hey, Bob, just wondering one more thing - what changes do I make in the driver.ini file to slow these guys down a little so I can compete until I get more used to the game?

I'd recommend using the GEM utility.  When you select Race, there is a place to adjust AI Speed.  From the GEM Help > GEM+ Mode Selector Race:

AI Speed

This alters the NPT_Override setting in gpl_ai.ini. A value of zero sets the AI to Papy's default behavior which is to adjust speed depending on your laptimes. By default GEM+ keeps a separate NPT value for each player and Carset but you can change this in the configuration window.

The default value for this is 0. With it set thus, GPL automatically adjusts the AI speed depending on your past performance. It aims to keep you finishing somewhere around 5th or 6th.

It doesn’t always work well though and most people prefer to set it manually.

A setting of 1 puts the AI to their natural speed. Anything less than 1 speeds them up, anything higher slows them down.

The driver.ini is for adjusting each AI drivers attributes indivually and is a big topic.  There's a tutorial at http://home.online.n...g/track_ini.htm for adjusting the track.ini which changes the overall AI speeds.
