Hi guys,

I've been working on and off on a brand new Lotus 48 car model for the last couple of months, with the aim of producing a more accurate car shape both on the inside and on the outside. The curent model is based on the Lotus 33 F1 car but a lot of the visual cues are more similar to the Lotus 43 and 49 car models, even though the overall dimensions are closer to the 33. Combining all these features, I've been able to combine and reshape parts of the GPLEA Lotus 43 and 49 to fit onto our F2 48. The result is a much sleeker looking car, more in line to what I was seeing on pictures of the real car. These are the new features implemented so far:

- New car model (based on Lotus 43)
- New cockpit model (based on Lotus 49)
- New textures (based on Lotus 43 GPLEA)
- New cockpit textures (based on Jackseller and original F2 texture artist Remy's work)

I'll also try and implement fixes for the gap in the front wheels and G.Spinnings new driver suits.

I'm very happy with the car so far, the engine bay could use some small improvements still but depending on the time available I'll leave that for another time. On the cockpit side, I've made the cockpit longer, narrower and higher and the steering wheel bigger and higher resulting in a more accurate feel of how small the cockpit was.

Still a lot to do but hope you guys will like it.

Tommie.

I agree with Leon, that the Ferrari is most in need of attention.  The Lotus cockpit shown looks more accurate than the original.  The exterior needs more work.  It would make more sense to fix your own model first.

hmm, I wouldn't go for the GPLEA textures, the real color is darker and a bit more bluish. The same goes for the lotus 43 and 49 ;)

MHO :)

You're right, I'll tweak the GPLEA textures a bit, they are slightly too green :) .

People, when it comes to critiquing colours you need to remember that we are looking at a computer monitor, NOT a printed photograph.

Remy,

the pics you are using here doesn't reflect much the real color, don' t you think ? They are oversaturated with blue tones ( see the tarmac )

Tommie,

Those are great new, for the magnificent perfect pure cigar shaped cat that was the Lotus 48

There's definitely some blue also in yours Michel, I can see it. Fun fact, Kunos made a standard skin for the 49 which is green with a lot of blue tones. I found it weird at first, but now I can see why. There was some blue in the color

For my "color adjusted eyes" your Lotus 49s look really great, Remy!  I've converted over all of my folders to use your lotus files.  I've even made Clark #21, Hill #22 for Spa and a Player car #27 for myself..... using your online carskins (since they are hi-res, too) and the default no-number disc carskin.  Many thanks, my friend.  The '49' has never looked better!  :)
