I just installed it and liked very much!

I think there are some differences in elevations, especially in the esses, relative to the original papy track, isn't it?

It's a complete new gpl track construction. It does not use any part of the original papy track, so there may be differences in the elevations and cambers at the Esses and the Loop too. However, not to forget, in '71 the width of the tracks was increased to 11meters.   :)

Thanks for the clarification.

And... Do you think a revised 1967 version of the track would be necessary? I don't know how accurate the Papy version is...

Gianfranco,

I copy /paste McMirande question

Michel, McMirande,

To be honest, I did not do any specific research on the 1967 track. So I cannot say how accurate Papyrus representation is. I can only say that the layout of my Short Course is based on Google map pictures. The Short Course still exists, while the Grand Prix course of 1967 not anymore. If someone want to investigate further, the here attached photo is Papy track layout correctly made by 8 bends.

However, my personal opinion is that considering the amount of time a track for GPL requires both to research historical evidences and then to build it, I would rather invest that for the missing tracks of existing mods or mod to come, than re-work what we already have and got used. Of course with due distinctions, which in a way confirm the rule: e.g. spa67. Spa67 is as accurate as a documentary and beautiful as a real piece of art collecting the excellences of the best GPL’s track creators. But it required more than 8 years of hard work.

Papyrus made Watkins Glen almost two time wider than real track. Also section with last three turns are completely wrong (marks 12, 13, 14 on picture)

Thank you Pavel. While replying, I was indeed also doubting regarding the accuracy of those bends.

Thanks for your answer, G. Spinning. I'm discovering it just now.

Yes, it's true that there are many tracks to do and not many people working on them and seems reasonable to invest time elsewhere rather than in the Papy's Glen. Also, if doing it realistic is reducing its wide... maybe is better to left it as currently is...

Cheers, Marcos.

I'm using WinRAR too. But even installing the track via the old-fashion way (Gianfranco sent me his track folder, plus manual entry in season.ini) leads to a crash :(
Ok, so after a three-month break, I gave the track a new chance. And guess what, it works perfectly now ! I don't know what was wrong back in May, but now it's 100% correct and running. I just love the new challenge we have now. It's so narrow and tight compared to watglen. Those CanAms are giving me some P.I.T.A at times lol :P

Great video Yannick, Thanks for sharing, watched it all the way through. Would love to have seen it in HD.

I came across this a few months ago, Lots's of Can-Am Legends discussing memories. Very entertaining and well worth a watch.
