I'm thinking this will be the title to get for someone who likes a good old fashioned simulation; the kind of sim where the focus in on driving physics, pure and simple. The machine, the man, the track.

Blasting the same F458 around tracks in Ferrari Virtual Academy, leaves me hopeful for this new title.

wasn't kunos the guy who did the physics for richard burns rally? if so, then i shall wait with baited breath as that is THE rally simulation to beat. so i would reckon he can improve on that some more. assetto corsa looks quite good (not the best video quality), probably not quite where project cars is, but then again that's hard to tell just from a filmed video instead of a direct capture of the feed, but you have to drive it to actually be able to argue pro or contra :)

looks promising

I am not sure about that, he has one of the guys from the Power and Glory mod crew working on physics (Arristotelis) but Kunos is the one responsible for Netkar which has fantastic physics but was let down by its netcode.
Kunos was also very active in the driving italia forum where most of my questions used to be answered by him so the guys enthusiasm can't be questioned.

I saw on a recent inside sim racing episode (youtube channel), that they are going to release a demo soon. I have only heard positive things about this sim.

It does look interesting.  I'll be interested to give it a try.

There is an article about this in the latest AutoSimSport online magazine.

http://www.autosimsport.net/

There is also an interview with Dave Kaemmer in this issue, plus a look back at the West Racing Racing Legends sim that never was.  Remember that?  Good reads in this magazine

Looks pretty good, nice depth of field, non-candy colours, non-flat lighting. Lets hope Kunos maintains or even improves the fantastic driving feel of netkar pro. It would be about time to get a sim which improves on GPL on all fronts.

A technology preview (hotlapping only, 1 car on 1 track) is out for those who have bought netKar PRO. Get it from http://www.assettocorsa.net and activate using netKar PRO paycode.

Seems quite promising, Kunos has maintained and even improved on the already good driving feel. Its a hallmark of a good sim that one can drive it instantly with general driving skills as opposed to having to "learn the sim". One car with no setup changes is not much to evaluate driving feel properly but so far so good. Graphics are reasonably good for a 2013 sim, but sound is pretty bad. User interface is a huge improvement over nkpro. Eagerly waiting for the complete sim.

Thanks for the heads up brr....Not sure that I agree with this statement though... "Its a hallmark of a good sim that one can drive it instantly with general driving skills as opposed to having to "learn the sim".
OK, anybody with general driving skills, should be able to get into ANY car and drive it like, 30mph on the street, or even 70mph on motorways, but as for driving on a track really fast, that takes time to learn, and I've not yet mentioned racing others on the some track, man that takes years to work your way up to.... "and learn".

I did not say "driving on a track really fast" nor did I say anything about driving speed, that came from your biased imagination. Most sims screw up the all-important feeling of driving a real car, also pCars and some other casual racing games do not get this right to a sufficient degree.

So anyway, I agree with brr: driving feel = heaven, graphics are below pCARS but very solid, and the Elise sounds ropey. But the physics...next level stuff. I don't find it too easy.

BTW you can buy netKar Pro with the AC demo for €5 at the moment, bargain city!
