Has anyone had success running GEM+ on linux? No matter what I tried, the result was always the same - when I enter the command
wine GIMP2.exe
After I choose a language on the first dialog box, GIMP2 exits. I am using the new version of Ubuntu linux, Ubuntu 20.04 and current GPL files from this link: http://gplworld.de/e...tallation-guide
I tried:
1. Installing from CD
2. Installing starting with the GPL 2004 demo, being careful to create a Sierra/GPL/exports directory as recommended at the link above
3. copying a GEM.ini file from another working GPL WINEPREFIX
Of course I ran gpl.exe to create a driver before running GEM+. Whatever I tried, GIMP2.exe exists after the language dialog box. Any ideas about how I can get GEM+ running?
Thanks

Have you ever seen my guide to GPL in Linux?
I just use pure wine and install in c: without any helpers (only delete gem.ini first)
PS
I use my old GPL folders from W7, just show the path in Gem install.

Hi prize,
I also recommend to check Cookie's valuable guide:
http://srmz.net/inde...topic=13244&hl=
With regards to the issue you mentioned, I remember having a similar problem (GEM exited after showing the language dialog box). The solution I found somewhere in srmz was to delete/rename the GEM.ini in the GEM+ folder. After doing so GEM recreates the GEM.ini during the next start. After language dialog box a new dialog box popped up asking something about videos where I had to select no. After doing that GEM started normally.

Thanks, deleting GEM.ini as you described worked.
