"Am happy to report that "downgrading" back to Nvidia v388 drivers fixed the fps problem."

Just remember next time Win10 updates you will have to do this again.

I don't know Paul.  When I first bought this Acer laptop, there weren't any Nvidia drivers installed at all so I downloaded and installed the most current version at that time which was v388.73.  Apparently v442.23 got installed during a Windows 10 update which made OpenGL far worse.  Downgrading to v388.31 which is even older than my first set of v388.73 drivers appears to be even better.  :dontgetit:

Right.  I'll keep the v388 driver installer handy for the next Windows 10 update.

Older drivers can be found here https://www.guru3d.c...-vista-|-7.html

I recently upgraded my graphics card to an Nvdia 1050Ti.  Still trying to tweak fps but I didn't get any improvement with older drivers (I tried going from 432.00 to 385.69).  Might try another old version just in case.

One caution I noted a fair bit of (Confusing) chatter on line about problems with suttering, with 387.92 and/or 388.xx drivers.  Of course it may be system or game specific.

IMO you should look when your 1050ti was first released wich NV driver was made first to support it,
then you go a half year ~ 2-3 generations of drivers further and look wich bugfixes were made and test these drivers,
after the NV 2050 generation was released they did not have any priority to fix 1050ti bugs in new drivers ;)

PS
I would try the  GeForce 399.24 WHQL as the last before RTX2070 series

I will test it with my 1060 too

Well I spoke too soon.  :(

With the new Windows 10 2004, my laptop has started to lock up occasionally especially when using the Firefox browser.  So I gave in and let Windows install the Nvidia v442.23 drivers to see if that helped.  Only time will tell, but with OpenGLv2 my GPL fps at the BOQ is now back down to 20 fps on race start although it quickly comes back to 36 fps.  :(

Apparently, MS is intent on forcing the user to update Windows as you can only delay updates for a few days now rather than indefinitely without jumping through hoops.   This also forces an update to the Nvidia drivers.  :(

I'll try to figure out Axel's method of preventing Windows 10 from updating the drivers.

It's pretty good hidden

look for Printers in settings then there is another ~ "devices and printers" on the right side - this opens W7 settings
right click on the desktop pic gives you ~ "device install settings" here you can disable

It looks like O&OShutup10 allows you to change this AND has further options.

If I got itcorrect, when I set that option, this is the change in O&OShutup10.  Which has a further driver disable driver update option.

Lee, just a thought on your 20fps.  As Cookie often points out you need to push modern graphics cards.  With my recent testing, I used Stefan's Installation Guide Nvidia settings.  I found that I got better fps with the "High" settings that the "Moderate" (High=36 and Moderate=25 in one test).  Counter intuitive but he is right.  So if you aren't already, it's worth trying Stefan's High settings.

I might post my results /conclusions.

Installed older driver 399.24 just to see if there is any difference. Performance and graphics seem identical to the newer driver.

The only reason I checked is because I have an issue with anti aliasing transparency that I thought may be better with the older driver.... but it is the same.
