Im very curious about this mod and thinking about buying AC ultimate version with all the packs as its 50% off now. Is it micro transaction based? Do you have to buy tracks and such after buying the game?

When I hear that its easier and with more grip than gpl it makes me a bit unsure , but I really like how it looks. How is the online racing community in AC?
AC is more like a successor to rfactor1. If you buy Ultimate Edition, you get every official content from AC (the development is ended a few month ago, so unlikely to receive any new DLC) and they are yours to keep and play forever (until steam dead?).

The graphics of AC is probably the most natural/comfortable sim out there right now, and it's not demanding at all.

The physics, since i'm not a physics guy, i can only comment the general feeling and handling of cars. Most cars with slick tyres are hard to control once the tyre starts sliding (the sliding is controllable, but most of the time you lose time, and don't gain advantage for sliding), so some people who like slight-drifting cornering style may find it kind hard to do the same in AC. For cars with street tyres, there is more room for sliding, but still it's kind hard to control the slide and at same time being fast. If you like the sliding style driving in GPL, you probably won't be able to do the same in AC.

For online play, there are so many leagues and servers right now, it's easy to pick up one and start racing.

Thanks Remco

Is it an "official" mod included in a DLC or a community addon?  Is it downloadable from some site?

I tested some "gpl mod" for AC (maybe the v1 of these) and didn't feel the immersion of GPL. Also I noted as if they hadn't mass and/or inertia. In general I noted too much feedback of the track ondulations and too slight centering effect given by the centripetal force.
I don't know if it was a problem with the mod or with the AC in general (I think the latter, actually).

Also, I don't like too much the commercial aspect of AC community. Not from Kunos (in that point it is way better than iRacing) but from the community itself. If we compare the difficulty of making a track or a mod between GPL and modern sims, I just can't undestand why all GPL addons are free and AC ones not...

Cheers, Marcos.

This is a free mod, and it comes with suggestions on finding the best '60s tracks. Don't know the link.
It feels grippy but the laptimes match pretty well and with the AI lines adjusted to my laps, the AI give me a hard time! At that point, pushing really hard for a podium, it all becomes very challenging!

A better video will follow :-)

Historic tracks, sort of,links are in the readme file of the mod.
Everytime i hear about "matching laptimes" i remember  your buddy Neils saying "sometimes matching laptimes doesnt mean anything because they could be achieved for the wrong reasons, grip, aero, physics.
Really enjoying video+educational Remco!

Yeah that was me not coping with loss of grip due to tyre heat haha! In the video the AI are still bad, super slow in the turns. I fixed that now. You can drive a couple of laps with a line recorder, and the last one becomes the AI reference, great feature!

Hey, that sounds like a pretty neat feature. B) Will check that out when I get the rig up.

Haha yeah that's true! I meant matching to GPL, so while it looks grippier it's not necessarily faster. The new AI pushed me to 1:23.6, my old GPL time.

It takes a couple of tries to get right. The AI will vary on it somewhat so the reference needs to stay well clear of apexes and you have to be very conservative in the fast bends or half the field will overshoot. But once you get it, you don't get surprised by cars braking into flat out sections! I barely made the podium in my last race!

Bought the game and tried a couple of the 67s. Its not gpl , thats for sure. Probably needs a lot of set up work to be done. A lot of snap oversteer and not quite what I expected. But it sure looks nice. Bought the ultimate version of AC but only have one of the classic tracks , not sure where I find more tracks.

Did you install the mod? Kunos' cars are terrible. There shouldn't be any snap oversteer, perhaps your wheel settings aren't dialed in yet. The standard car setups are very drivable.
And, as said, the PDF in the mod package has links to the best '60s tracks!

Guys... I (pretty much) have my rig set up again. A few small things to get set properly yet. I`ve fired up AC after quite a while away from it. Got everything how I want it I think but I`m getting some serious "chattering" with the G25. When driving it`s very jumpy and sometimes quite harsh. Banging about a bit. Was`nt there some kind of "fix" for this? Or settings to change? I remember getting the G25 working really well with AC in the past but can`t remember now what I did.

I`d appreciate some pointers. :)
