Wow!
Just, wow!

Last time I browsed these forums I found this thread and the comments that Jim had stopped progress on the full IOM and was mightily upset  :(

I'm absolutely over the moon to see this new update and to hear work is back underway, take you time and enjoy the work Jim - Even if it takes years GPL won't have gone anywhere, I for one look forward to dashing myself to pieces on the various pointy bits of the track when it does get released

I can only imagine the work involved in doing a track of this size in the quality range of Jim Pearson's IOM Mountain Course, which I'm a huge fan of.  I look forward to seeing this full-length track, and thank you Jim (and Ken) for putting in all that time and effort.  No worry, no hurry.  I'm patient. :)

Sorry if this is an old thread guys but I've just watched the video on a fast lap of the Isle of Man track on the front. I've searched on here for this track but nothing shows. Can anyone tell me or show me a link where I can download this track please?

I don't know what you found, possibly the shortened (25 km) IoM Mountain Course. I can assure you that the entire GPL community is still eagerly awaiting the release of the full length version. :)

If you really want to p..s me off completely, post links like that to warez copies of stolen work.

Didn't you read what was in it???

I have enough trouble motivating myself to keep going as it is, without this sort of constant agravation.

Moderators; please have the complete text of the above post removed, including the link.

Hi Jim,

I think I can understand some of how you feel knowing how you have described your feelings in the past and it's a shame this happens. A person's work can easily be taken advantage of over the internet but I believe there are many who actively try and respect peoples wishes including yours and I'm sure here in the GPL community that stands for the vast majority of members. Knowing how long it takes me to make mips and stuff I cannot imagine the work involved for yourself, especially knowing your desire for accuracy and immersion with your tracks, in making the full IOM track. If it was me it would take me 3 lifetimes or more! If you do ever finish this monster project I am certain many people will thoroughly enjoy the experience of driving the full IOM in GPL thanks to you. The condensed version and Adelaide '67 remains in my top list of favourite tracks.

Keep well & best wishes

Duncan

I completely agree, on a forum it was on someone was given praise for a messy conversion! Is there not a way to make dat files impossible to open? (mind you someone would find a way round it...)

Keep up your incredible work Jim, I am sure it will be well worth the wait.

Hi Jim,

nice to hear you're still with us and that you still care about your projects. I'm absolutely sure everything you will ever release will be worth the wait how long it might take.

I'm looking forwart.

Sorry I wouldn't normally do that?

Well can you post a link to the Isle of Man track? If you search on here for Isle of Man track nothing shows so you have to Google for it.

If you ever want to find any GPL Track.. you'll find http://gpltd.bcsims.com/ more effective than google.

All available GPL tracks are listed at the Alternative GPL Track Database.

There is a search function at the database that would allow you to search for the name or the author, or you can just go to tracks beginning with "I" and scroll down.

Hi Jim. Having recently started playing GPL again, I was amazed to find your abridged isle of man track. It is without a doubt my favourite track and I was even more amazed to read that you were working on a full length version. It is right up there on my most wanted list above the completed Pescara (assuming the author finishes that one).  I then read about the work you have put into it and even the trip to the isle of man, which would still be a mean feat if you live in mainland uk. Then I found out you did all this from Australia.

I admire your work and commitment and am happy to wait however long it takes for the finished, full length version to be released. Please do not take unnecessary criticisms to heart, as most of the people trash talking you will be kissing your backside when the finished version is released. I'm actually surprised that people of that nature even play GPL. It's an advanced simulator. Normally the "haters" will play something like need for speed.

Anyway, keep up the good work. I eagerly await the release of the full version, but I will happily wait until you are happy with it(and had enough practice at the track to destroy us mere mortals).

Thanks for all your hard work
