Hi guys

I did it in the past, but cannot find how to proceed now.
I have the papyrus sound.dat, plus many many wavs, some i customized etc

I'd like to compile all of those wavs into one sound.dat.

What I did :
- i extracted the papy sound.dat in its own folder using DATX
- i dragged and dropped all of my wavs on to this papy folder, overwritting a lot of files
- then i dragged all of those wavs onto the makedat.exe
- once in race, ive got no engine sound at all, just scenery stuff

Guess i did something wrong

thanks

Could it be something obvious like the sound.dat file not having the correct name?  Or maybe the .dat packed them into a different directory instead of the main directory?

When I use makedat.exe, I create a folder with the name of what I want the .dat to be, so in this case, it would be a folder named 'sound'.

Put all the files you want in that directory/folder along with makedat.exe, run makedat.exe and it will create a .dat named 'sound.dat'.

If you've checked that all that is good, it could be the type of sound was 'wrong' to begin with?

To make sure sounds work before packing them into the .dat, you can drop them into your 'sound' folder and see if they show up in the game.

Gotta make sure they are named correctly as well.

I figure you probably already checked all of that but it's all I can think of at the moment.

Good luck!
