I can shed a bit of light on those concrete sections, they were iron plates with a concrete layer on the top that were placed over the horse racing track after the horse racing fences had been taken down between meetings.
Eventually the club got tired of all the work involved and the club abandonned the track when the betting agency's made more money for the club than the race track.

Chevron publishing did a run of Australian touring car races, with the majortiy of races on the DVD's at Warick Farm, I'll check my collection as one dvd has Graham Hill narrating a lap of Warick farm at track level.

edit- Found it!

:woohoo2: That's an absolutely fantastic video and will help enormously! Great info about the crossings too... Many thanks!

This picture is from Caversham on the other side of the country in Western Australia, not sure why it is labelled as Warwick Farm.

Whilst doing some research I came across Bill Pottinger's photos on "The Roaring Season" website.

http://www.theroarin...llection-Part-1
http://www.theroarin...llection-Part-2
http://www.theroarin...llection-Part-3

There is a book of his (mainly?) Teretonga photos out.  Having contacted Bill, he has just had another print run so it is available (NZ$110 for delivery to Europe).

Details can be found at https://www.billpottinger.com/

Not sure if the book contains many "track reference" photos.  I can let you know when my copy turns up.

I would be very interested to know if there are many photos in the book not available on the internet or on roaring season from Tasman 67-68

If you look at post #58 of the roaring season part 3 thread, it shows some images from the book.  Quite a few car shots that I don't think are available on the internet.  I can let you know when my copy arrives.  Might take a while to reach England tho'.

BTW I'm sure the price I quote above will be much lower for NZ/Aus delivery.

My interest is the 1969 Tasman cars ..... ;)

Received Bill Pottinger's book today.  It is a very nice book.  More interesting for car reference than tracks.

1967 only 5 pictures incl. Hulme and Courage cars.
1968 19 pictures in total including.....
  • McLaren in BRM and Courage's M4A.
  • Lawrence in Rodriguez's BRM
  • Hulme's Brabham x2
  • Amon's Ferrari x3
  • Courage & Hulme
  • Rodriguez's BRM

1969 has a better representation (good for my current interest).  There are also sections on 1970, 1971, National cars/Gold Star.

Thanks for the info. While I will still consider getting the book eventually I was hoping it would have a couple of photos of the lesser known private entries as well.

Ill just leave this here... not Warwick Farm, but Teretonga
Not sure where Fat Rich got up to, but many moons ago id been working on Teretonga before I gave up GPL.
Sadly it never got finished and I lost all the build files.. it did get finished in rFactor though, by Lasecutter, who did an awesome job of it

Interesting that you have a version of Teretonga Warren. How long ago was it that you were making it?

it must have been prior to 2007 I think. I also have a couple of versions of Ruapuna , but no build files anymore to continue. 1 version is more advanced than the other and both are the later extended track, one with the loop which is used by the bikes.

Hi Warren, I tried to reply to your PM but it wouldn't let me some reason.....

My GPL machine has been out of action for a while, plus my office is in pieces due to a leaky pipe. How many plumbers does it take to fix a leaky pipe in one of the biggest cities in the world? I don't know yet but it's at least 4 :(

Hoping to get the machine set up and fixed soon, will send the Teretonga build files to Ginetto and Remy as soon as I can. I would hope to have some time to do some trackbuilding myself too, but I've been saying that for ages now and it never seems to happen.

Rob sent me a version of Teretonga which I guess is yours, good job! If I'd known about it before starting mine I'd have given you a shout ;)
