Alternative Player Options For 55 Mod

Posted by Elijahroberson in GPL-"Help! I'm having trouble with..."
Hello, recently I have gotten back into GPL and have improved significantly since my earlier days of playing it to the point where I can be pretty competitive in races. Now, I know I asked this earlier on, but I cannot find the post I made, plus it was for a different mod. This pertains to the 55 mod. I am trying to change my Ferrari colors to those in the SIERRA\gpl\cars\cars55\c08\Player Options\FrenchNurburgring54 folder. I took the mip file in the folder and overrode the original number 4 mip (I made a backup of course) in the c08 folder. This has not changed the look of my car, and I am not sure how to use the feature. I like the Ferrari red, but personally I enjoy a good light blue. Does anyone know how I can use these player options? As many mods as this feature appears in, none of them ever seem to provide an explanation on how to use it in any readme, but perhaps I am missing it. Thanks in advance.

Gpl Running On Linux Mint - Tutorial

With the EOL of Win7 many pc user do not want to share all their personal data with MS by "updating" to Win10.
After a fresh full install of W10 I registered a 1.5GB upload in the task manager...

Win7 was the last MS OS you owned, you could buy a new pc and move the old OS to it. W10 is bound to a single HW constellation.

So for me the decision is clear to not use W10 for my daily tasks as banking, e-mail and net-surfing!

But wich of the many linux distros is the best for an old Windows user since Windows 3.1?
A distro that comes with an easy to install iso file you can test "live" without installing.
I testet Ubuntu, Sparkylinux, Manjaro, Debian, Mint and many others.

The last 2 distros standing were Manjaro and Mint:

Manjaro is a rolling release, what means, it is allways up-to-date with the newest software and OS kernel.
Mint is a more conservative distro, with an older but saver kernel, security is up-to-date of course.

The decision to take mint cinnamon was finaly fallen when
I succeeded to get Teamspeak working with the onboard sound to earphones and the GPL sound over HDMI to the speaker.

So if you want to move from W7 to a new OS just don't hurry,
easiest and savest way is to get a small 128/250GB SSD and make a fresh install.
If you have some space left on your old HDD or SSD you can install it besides W7.

If you want to use the old HDD or SSD make shure to save all the data on an external drive.

One of the main things is the browser settings and links and PWs,
I use firefox and the first thing is to get it working in my new OS means copying a single folder! (profile xxxxxx.default)

First steps:

Get an USB stick and write the .iso on it

- linuxmint-19.3-cinnamon-64bit.iso -> https://linuxmint.com/
- Win32 Disk Imager -> https://sourceforge....in32diskimager/
- 4/8 GB USB stick (I prefer USB3 as it is extremely faster)

Run it by pressing F9 or F11 during the booting
Test the OS...

to be continued

Gtr2 Game

19 Jan 2020

Posted by twinpotter in I Wanna talk about other Sims or Games
Just reinstalled the Gtr2 game, to play with my G27 shifter. I know some of you have experience of this game, so maybe some of you will have some answers for me to chew on?

I'm playing the game with my wheel. Question is, do I use the flip gears for changing gears or the shifter to go up and down the box?
I'm not sure historically, or car by car, how this was simulated in those years. I believe the game covers the GT cars around the 2003/4 seasons. Question is did they all use flip change or gearstick change, in those gt cars? I would just like to be more realistic. I have noticed though, some cars have a gear stick image, in the cockpit view, whereas some don't. So if that's the case, should I mix gear change methods to suit?

Also when I change gears, I'm engaging the clutch to change up/down the box, to again be as realistic as possible. Even though I could just push the gear stick into any gear I want, without engaging the clutch. Is there a patch, mod or plr file change, I could adopt (like GPL shift) where I have to engage the clutch, when having to use a realistic shifter?

My game runs flawlessly with no fps penalty at all. Even in full super high graphic settings. I believe that the Race Department site as an hq patch and anniversary patch. Are these worth getting and adding to the game, and if so, would doing this increase the fps, slowing down the overall game? As anybody used these 2 patches?

Finally I must say how I'm really loving this game once more. I've also installed some extra tracks, including the fantastic Nordschleife and it's a blast to drive. I love the campers alongside the track, and the fires at the side of the circuit. The night time driving is immense too.

Next up to install is GTL and Race 07 which are in my Steam library. Although I have the original discs as well.

Thanks all for any answers and tips 😁👍
