Hi everybody,

I'm in love with GPL again.:-)

All problems solved so far. (changed sound from stereo to mono - now the sound its much better)

I trained Monza with the Brabham. (at the moment with my xbox360 controller) My best lap is a 1.34 min.

Now I wanted to race the AI. But I haven't any chance. With my 1.34 min I'm only 19th in the qualifying. Clark as 1st is 6 seconds faster....

Is there a posibility to slow down the AI (the whole field), so that I have a chance to race Clark and the top drivers and WIN RACES??

Anybody has a advice for me?

thanks.

You play with the value of AI Speed in GEM+ (see pic)
Higher values slow the AI down.
Go with little steps, 0.1 change the AI by a few seconds on an average track.
Hope it helps

thanks. I tried it. it works, but it's not 100% fine. If I change the number on 2 (the lowest AI i guess) the top drivers are ahead like before. Only the midfielders and the drivers on the end of the field are ridicoulus slow. Anybody has experience - whats the best value???

And why doesn't GEM work with the gpl67c.exe??? Only with the gpl.exe!?

Ok I figured it out myself. (without GEM, because I don't use mods and i don't need it)

I had to change the value global hype scaling in the players .ini (if you play with the 1.3 patch you have to choose the drvc67.ini) to 1.00 for every driver.

then you have to increase the value ntp_override in the gpl_ai.ini (for the version 1.3 gpla67.ini!) on a value 1.00 - 1.20 (with a value of 1.20 the ai is very slow - but for unknown tracks this is helpful)

that works perfect and you can adjust it like you want.

thanks to lee bowden for his tutorial.

It's not that we don't know how to slow down the AI. Some of us don't choose to do it and find getting faster is more rewarding and challenging.

Jim Clark is one of the best drivers in all of history. Slowing him down to beat him gives me no satisfaction. We already have a huge advantage by driving a sim instead of the real cars.

Learn to beat the slower drivers without slowing them down and then through lot's of work and practice work your way up to the faster drivers. You'll feel a lot better about it.

I only drive twice a week. That's a lot of work and practice Pete, by the time I retire in five years I'll be on a level with the slower drivers.

My problem is I can't slow down the AI in the 67 Mod with GEM. The 55 mod works flawlessly but the 67s are not effected by any value I dial up. Clark does a 1:24XX at Zandy with the AI set at 1, 1.40 or even at .88 every time.  Sure Clark should win, but I have no chance. All the AI are unaffected by the values in GEM.

Just tested the Can-Am mod and it works perfectly.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Create a new player for the 67s? Nope that didn't work.

Will

Ok so I guess GEM doesn't work with 67s...I'll read Lees suggestions next.

I swear I remember GEM changing the AI speeds years ago...old age..

"Hi Pawgy,

Take a look at this thread below, particularly the posts by Lee200.  It should give you some info on how to adjust the AI to your liking.  For the original 67 cars, you have to go manually edit the "gpla67.ini" file with a text editor and change the npt_override = x.xx line setting.  Doing it through GEM doesn't seem to work with the 67's.

Post #'s 11 and 13 are where the key pieces of information for adjusting Ai are located in the thread.

Cheers,

Dave"

Guys, correct me if I am wrong, but I think, that adjusting the value of AI Speed in GEM+ slows the AI down, but spread out the field. And AI is then too slow in the corners.

I think better is to use GEM+ 'AI Speed' button to make a profile(setting) for each track and mod. And in this profile(setting) you can edit
[GP] section of each track.ini:
dlong_speed_adj_coeff
dlong_speed_maximum

With good settings AI is not so fast on straights (and is not accelerating too fast), but is still fast enough in corners.

There is a nice explanation in old document by Ezechiel47

It depends on diriver.ini file (or mod specefic driv65.ini, driv66.ini, etc.). When every driver has the same global_hype_scaling setting (usually 1) then field shouldn't spread out. When drivers has their own global_hype_scaling setting then how much they become slowerr depends on this hype setting. Drivers with lower setting less dependent to ntp value (GEM+ AI speed). F1'65, F1'66, F1'69 mods original and with historical updates should have drivers with their own global_hype_scaling setting. And slower field will be spread out. But GT'67, CA71, CA66, F1'55 mods use global_hype_scaling set to 1.0 for all drivers.
