In other news the new Indycar is out and running at a green Sears Point, which is always seems a bit out of place to me... Posted Image

and while F1s solution for the head injury problem couldn't be more akward than putting a flip flop over the cockpit Indys solution looks quite reasonable.

Posted Image

The windscreen will be tested tomorrow at PIR under varying lighting conditions. I'm looking forward to what the comments on the glare will be under floodlights.

In totally separate news, Fernando Alonso will be running the full 18/19 WEC seasons for Toyota. Le Mans was expected but the whole season is bit of a surprise.

I like the Indy car windscreen (or RB aeroscreen) much more than Halo.

Really good chance for Fernado to win Le Mans this year with no real competition. Just hope Toyota engine don't blew up :D

And final message it's looks like racing is going even more electric - https://www.motorspo...ectric-1002791/

Windscreen is more pleasing esthetically, more like a fighter jet cockpit. Probably they will close the cockpit totally with some vents in the future.

I'm not sure, Dixon who ran just a10 min runs or so with it mentioned getting little to no airflow. Which they anticipated, so they are probably going to add some NACA ducts. Also a fully closed bubble will create hazards exiting I'd imagine.

Looks like they are copying last year's Ferrari's high sidepod inlet config.

So few midfielders are behind us. I looking forward to see how will be look RedBull, Ferrari, Mercedes or Renault. But mostly to McLaren hoping see them much higher than last three years :)

BTW Amazon series Grand Prix Driver about McLaren's last year pre season is absolutely excelent!

So they're sponsoring themselves since Renault bought Nissan several years ago?

Hi Greg :)

Yes it's the luxuary car division from Nissan, it used to be on the Red Bull car before. I guess that was part of the Renault deal.

The more I think about the halo the more stupid it is. It seems to be 14kg in total. 8kg for the actual halo, and 6kg for the mounting.

Way to go for the center of gravity, such an heavy object so high. So unlike the pinnacle of motorsports. A windscreen I could tolerate, but this abomination should go as soon as possible!

And people tell that I should get over it.
That it isn't about the aesthetics.

No. I will NOT stop about it and it DEFINITELY is about aesthetics.
The halo is a modern art masterpiece, and believe me, when I say it, it is not a compliment. Not at all.

I sincerely hope that the views will drop drastically this year and we can point the finger on this blasphemy.

McLaren go back to their late60s/early70s colours. Also they don't seem to have a major sponsor on the bodywork.

Look at the slots in the floorboards havn't seen those features before.

Surprisingly empty Mclaren, similar to the Ferrari shown yesterday. If they want to go retro why not put a big roundel with the number on the airbox. Also that's not a blue I associate with McLarens

Here is the Fezza

Mercedes for completeness

Finally here is what the halo looks like from the inside
