How lovely it would be for this to make its way to GPL, however adapted it would need to be:

https://www.youtube....h?v=H4CcGxUAMU0

How lovely it would be to actually have a "20th Anniversary Update" with new material from sounds to cockpit and wheel textures, to tracks of all stock content, taking advantage of the advances in PC components from 2005 to now. I would be willing to participate in this, doing texture updates.

:wubit:

I know he's running it on a Lotus 43 in the video (or maybe it's just a modded lotus 49 with the BRM engine stuck in the back? I am not familiar with the mod) but I can't quite shake the feeling that he thinks the engine sound he made is appropriate for the Lotus 43 and the BRM P83 and P115 and doesn't realise the V16 is a completely different engine to the H16. It's even supercharged for crying out loud.

I also can't believe that save one person in the download topic, no one else has mentioned it hahah.

Somehow I don't think he is expecting someone to make a BRM Type 15 / P30 mod, an F1 car which barely raced, from the year that there was no F1, only F2 as there were so few entrants.

Gui, you really should know better :P ;)

Still, it gave me a chuckle :D

And yes Gui, I am mostly just posting this to annoy you :P hahhah

That's a V16 with that exhaust arrangement? Have you guys heard of a V16 before? Seems like it would be kind of long for an F1 car.

I think that's the H16.

I'm sure Jeroen is very much aware of the difference, as indicated on RD by thread title, mod description and corresponding screenshot. But, with modded BRM being the only 16-cylinder custom car in AC, it's also the only car where this mod remotely makes any sense.

Anyway, we went through the same thing here, haven't we? When GPLSO was released in 2004, the same V-16 recording from Donnington run was used for sampling to make a set for the H-16. Youtube didn't exist and nobody had access to anything better back then :D.

So, the V16 sound is from the 55 BRM and the car in the video is the H16? Hell, why not make it sound like a Ferrari? It's a better sound and it just as authentic.

I was just watching a video of the 1936 Auto Union V16 at Goodwood. Supercharged too. On 1936 tires. Hopeless even with two rear tires on each side. Sounds awesome though.

That's just a re-upload of this: https://www.youtube....h?v=RBKUQPjQ16I - it's a V16 recording with 60s gpl brm video clips.

The only actual H16 recordings I've found on youtube are just startup and revving videos:

https://www.youtube....h?v=Gf2YI1AmqSE

https://www.youtube....h?v=nA0Jt0q6DcA

There's this but even though it says H16, to me it sounds like the same V16 recording from the other clip. See what you think but i wouldn't trust it:

Oh, i just found this though!:

I have heard the V16 up close and being driven flat out, and it is the sound of the Norse gods firing chain guns into hell. Astonishing. Easily the best engine I have ever heard.

sure it is true, that the V16 sound was extracted to make this sound, but for me - in this case - much more important, that this is one of very rare examples
how to work correct with the multi file sound system. It sounds very natural over the whole rev range and the typical overlay faults, that
can be heared in most of the rF or AC sounds are solved. Also excellent responce of the sound to the engines dynamic. Very impressive sound work !

with the detail level of the car, why did they fit so thin tyres, as if it was in 1962/65 ?. It spoils all its gorgeous looking

When GPL modelers handled the challenge, there was million times less doc on the web, and now that that 's easy to find pics of any given F1 car from every angle possible, there are approximative works on tyres width .
