Myself, Shaun and MECH have been building cars for Can-Am 66 since 2008. The mod team has been working on this project since 2009. It went from something simple ( three cars) to some thing grand and unique because of the mod team's enthusiasm and skill on every level. Beautiful new tracks were built to make this as an immersive experience as possible.

I have no way to measure my disappointment at seeing a link to an unfinished product that was so close to a proper and fitting release. Leadership is not easy on a good day, so let's just say seeing all of our work out there before the green flag dropped just blows. This is an amazing hobby we have all built, and the mod team and the GPL community deserve the best. We will rally and move forward on this project so it is properly finished. And I do hope our other friends really clear the air. Life is way too short.    Best, Bob

And a favorite quote for this week:
“A mature person is one who does not think only in absolutes, who is able to be objective even when deeply stirred emotionally, who has learned that there is both good and bad in all people and in all things, and who walks humbly and deals charitably with the circumstances of life, knowing that in this world no one is all knowing and therefore all of us need both love and charity.”   Eleanor Roosevelt

Whatever task, I take on for myself or assigned to me, I feel compelled to complete more than a satisfactory result. It should last maybe, past my time. I dislike going back and doing it again.

With the exception of something that is always upgraded/improved. We love that about GPL at SRMZ! Your team is doing the right thing regarding this mod. I couldn't follow that link. No way!

I can't speak for personalities, but.

Some of the loudest talkers on the forums have good advice and seem hard to work with just by the volume of their voice. Know what I'm saying? Dammit, we need their posts too. I hope everyone

involved realizes the value of their knowledge  and entertainment they provide to the rest of us. I love the passion and mutual interest. The openness of discussions and even arguments has been

informative to read. What a great forum.

Royale, not understandomg the full circumstnces I downloaded from the link - but had not installed.  I have now deleted that download and suggest that any others who have downloded might also delete, since it appears to have been put in the open without the fullest consent of the mod team

Group Dynamics is a double edged sword, if not an oxymoron.

Remember;

1. You are doing this because you want it done as well as possible.

2. The right people know this. It's not like this has never happened before.

3. Tell everyone EA released it unfinished and said they would patch it as soon as possible. : )

2 things to say:

1st - Thanks!

2nd - If anyone in the mod team is feeling down right now, just look to GPL1.0, and to everything that was created the last 17 years. The amount of time is incredible by itself, but the quantity and quality of tracks and series(series, not isolated cars as is the norm in recent sims, sadly) is just divine. Humongous effort, but a heck of a well done job.

No fun thinking about what thoughts must be going on.

Agree well with Andreh about point and purpose.
As he notes, history proves there is no acceptable corollary.
So, maybe better to try to not go there.
:)

All I come up with is the parable of swimming across the river with the crocodiles. Some don't make it.
If you do, you are lucky and must be humble, as you have been chosen by destiny to fulfill the challenge of becoming yourself.

But we aren't in the river and can only watch.

Have to remain hopeful all involved will soon acknowledge the necessity of forgiving and especially of forgetting, that with regret will surely come. But waiting for that moment when personal destiny makes all involved ready to seek resolution requires everyone have patience and share respect.

Manage the future not the past.

I was very disappointed that this controversy brewed up. You folks who create tracks and mods and updates are artists and we all marvel at what you produce. But I guess artists can be temperamental and so personality clashes should not come as a complete surprise.

Let's hope that emotions will calm and that nobody leaves this wonderful community. Everyone's contribution is valued. I wish I had the time and talent to contribute myself (hopefully once I retire in a few years). In the meantime all I can do is enjoy the results of all your efforts.

I haven't downloaded the mod and will not until its official release.

Cheers,

Bob Mackenzie

Then I guess it's a purely symbolic gesture. :)
