Hello guys!

Well, this is something between a request and a crazy desire.  Oreste Berta is our (for Argentinians) Colin Chapman.  The guy that developed a large part of the Argentinian race-car history and the one that had, as a manufacturer, the highest international success, with the "Misión Argentina" and the incursion in the World Sportscar Championships of 1970 and 1971 with an Argentinian design: the Berta LR.

The Berta LR had, at the beggining a Cosworth DFV engine, but after that Berta developed its own engine (yes... he based their ideas in the Cosworth but at the end he said the single thing in common with the Cosworth was that both were normally aspirated and had 8 cilinders in V).

The incursions of the Berta LR in international competitions hadn't the results that Berta expected but due to small problems of confiability and especially lack of (economical) resources to develop a serious competence against the Porsches or Ferraris... or actually against all remaining brands.  But "el Mago" (the Wizard) Berta was in charge.  The Berta LR debuted in the 200 miles of Buenos Aires, in 1970 qualifying in third place, in front of 20 European cars, but couldn't complete the race.

I attach reports of the races of the Berta LR I found in the wiki (mostly to show the context in which the LR raced)

*************************************************
Well, Oreste Berta (the son) is in contact with "our" Daniel Demarchi (the server guru of Mybroga) and offered all the necessary information regarding the Berta LR if somebody want to model it for GPL.

*************************************************
I think it would be the single case in which a manufacturer would provide real data and details for a GPL model, so, if the GPL modders are interested would be a GREAT OPORTUNITY

Maybe it could be a single-car "mini-mod" as that of the Stratos, given that most of the cars against which the LR competed are not in GPL (well... I don't know if the Alfa 33 and the Porsche 917 are the same than those in the SCx mod and CanAm 71, respectively.  The Lola should also be in some mod)

At the end I attach the history of the Berta LR (in spanish but with selectable text to use google-translate) and a lovely picture of Jackie Stewart on the Berta LR, talking with Oreste and Luis Ruben di Palma (if Berta is our Colin Chapman, di Palma was our Stirling Moss)

Marcos,I believe that if you use modCanAm66 in advanced trainner mode, it will be very close to what was the SPA in 1971, the advantage of this mod is that you can put in championship mode more in the way advanced trainner
