Finally I have got around to test it.

I have no clue how you do it, but you did it again.
Another brilliant patch! :D

It seems not to work with the Stratos Mod (at least on my system).
From your Read Me: "It works ... for all major mods."
Is it possible to make it work with the little Stratos ("Rally") mod?

Really excellent initiative Lee. :thanks:

I like the way it is potentially "customise-able" as well. :notice:

Some bespoke additions could enhance further for specific tracks; as PM'ed.

You have PM too.  :)

Thanks Stefan for the kind comments and for updating and hosting the website.

No, it doesn't work for the Stratos mod...that's an easy fix, but I'm away from GPL PC for a while so can't fix it.  I'll try to remember to update Pace Notes later.

Thanks Lee for this amazing tool!

Here is an English female voice set I have gathered (using some kind online text reading tool), just extract and override into "Pace Notes Sounds" folder (backup original files first):

Thanks for making the female pace notes sounds.  I'll add them as an option for Pace Notes.  :)

Lee, is it possible that the GPL Pace Notes does not work with the 1967 Sportscar Extra Mod ?
Thank you for your attention.

Claudio,

There is a new Pace Notes program which supports the 1967 Sports Car Extra mod.  You can get it here:

http://gplmotorworks.gplworld.de/

AFAIK, no one has made new Pace Notes settings files for different tracks.

Who would that be, we wonders?

In my view, Lee's automated process for deriving Pace Notes.ini files is very imaginative, yet a few tracks may still benefit from Pace Notes written using manual methods to obtain best results, if they have a lot of unique / complicated combinations of corner Radii, Curvature and Camber, which affect corner speeds and lines.

Such manual notes would  ( theoretically ;) ) work seamlessly with Lee's excellent Pace Notes Program.

All I want to say Brocky, is that Lee is a most generous and accommodating fellow!
I have made this little "supplementary" file [ below ] , with a few other new friends.............................. tucked away!   :secret2:

I'm just trying this out and I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong, but I'm not getting any sound at all.

> I select the GPL Pace Notes v1.1\GPL Pace Notes.exe and "Run as administrator".
> I click on the targa.trk.ini and Select.
> Hitting Start I get no "activated" announcement and in-game no pace notes.

If I go into the Pace Notes Sounds folder and click on a sound file, I can hear the individual instructions OK.

I just tried Nurburgring and Targa and both work, I'll get up with you on TS2 later.

Hi Bob,

Just to be sure, the program and its sound files need to be together in the same directory so don't copy the sound files into GPL's sound directory.  After you unzip the program, just run it and you should hear the "Activated" sound.

If not, have you tried the Isle of Man Track Start and Graphics Manager program?  It uses the exact same sound playing routines so if you hear the "Activated" sound with it then something is definitely not right with the Pace Notes program.

Yes, I had IOM Pace Notes and now remember that it never worked either. Testing it again I open the IOM Track Options Manager.exe then the Pace Notes tab and turn the Pace Notes on. At which time I get an “Activated” sound.  I can hear the samples when I run the mouse over the images.

With GEM open, when I hit he green button, I can see that the Pace Notes goes to the Off position, although I don’t hear a “deactivated” sound. In-game there are no pace notes heard. Starting from the gplc65.exe gives the exact same result with Pace Notes going to Off just as GPL is launched.

You can see the folder structure in Post 55 above. I haven’t moved anything around and it’s just as installed from the ZIP.

Well that is a bit of mystery.  :idunno:

As I said, the code is exactly the same for the two programs, but Pace Notes was written in the old VB6 language while the IOM version was written in VB.Net.

Which operating system are you using?
