Original problem. Ai would leave pit road through the wall, up through the grass and then out on the track. I was going to keep it this way until I tried the pitstop patch. When the cars try leaving after they pit, they hit the wall...haha...go figure.



So I got an lp edit program, made a replay and converted it. Problem is, now the ai go super slow out of the pit. Some make it out to the track, others disappear. So I went one step further and took the lp file that went through the grass and just changed that part so the ai would go up pit road. except they go slow. I only changed about 3/4 of pit road, so some still went out to the grass, but they were full speed. I don't know what is making them go slow on the pavement and fast on the grass. I'm really confused why they can go through the wall during practice and not during the race after they pit.


The pit,lp file that comes with the track goes slow also. The Sabre pit lp file is the one that goes through the wall



For the record, I'm not a computer code person, I just like racing and want a good ai to race.

"Sabre pit.lp file"?
What track is this?

At first reading thru thought you were making a track.
Sounds like a beta track. released without working Ai.

Got no answers, but if this is one of Sabre's tracks it would help others to know which one.
Could be, probably, there is already some fix, or some way to fix it.

Charlotte Night is a Noonan converted track, not a Sabre track.
Pretty sure none of the converted tracks have Ai?

Maybe Sabre did some work on it?
Where did the "Sabre pit.lp file" come from?

Is there somewhere a thread with all of Sabre's tracks?
Is there a list of them?
Only two show up on ATD?
Just searched a bit here and found only a few.

No tags on the home page btw.

Night Charlotte, David Noonan track
Comes with ai, goes slow or not at all on pit road.
I acquired some ai, Sabre oval track ai. this is the one that goes through the pit wall and up through the grass to the track during practice, and hits the wall when leaving pit road after a scheduled pit stop. using the pitstop patch.

I attached the Sabre ai and the charlotte stock ai

If someone could make the pit lp file work correctly, that would be great

Think that is not so much an easy-peezy thing to do.
Maybe it is.
IIRC it has something to do with first make a CLN file then make LP files?

If you really want the files, you might have to make them.
There are tools for that so its not coding.

For some scope, Mark Beckman's AI Tutorial explains it in a nice narrative.
Might be his instructions are for a new track rather than converted.
It also might be you can't make a CLN for a converted track.

Normal race, no pit, everything is ok. If I want to have a pitstop, the ai will drive down the grass on the outside of pit road, drive through the wall, Pit and when they leave they hit the wall and stop. Retire

That's it, I thought it would be an easy fix for someone, but I guess not.

I wouldn't mind removing the wall permanently.

So Ai is definitely better than before, at least on track?

Think the pit routines the AI go thru is very detailed and specific.
Probably the Ai do not know where their respective pit stalls are or where pit entry and exit begin.
As far as they are concerned, they are still on the track they came from?

Maybe try the pit.lp from some other sort-of-similar ovals?
Just wondering...

In GPL the maximum distance allowed for the pit stalls from center line, is 30 meters. this track has pit stalls at 46 meters so it will probably won't work unless you move the pit stalls closer to the track.
