Hey guys.  My last post was way back on June 29, 2009.  I ran the gpllinks.org for a few years and hosted some Sunday pickup races for a while, if anyone recalls.  After GPL, I did the iRacing thing for a year or so but then got totally burned-out and got rid of all my hardware.

I'm now getting the itch to reinstall GPL.  Where is the best place to ask questions about a my current PC setup and what to look for in a wheel/pedal setup?

So I was always interested with the lesser known drivers of the 67 historical season since the wonderful mod came out for it. I fell down a rabbit hole and as a Canadian, I have been enjoying looking at old Maclean's magazines at archive.org (but not all 3000 of them) Maclean's is Canada's equivalent to Time magazine. Anyway I thought I'd share this article I had found.

On attempting to access the sim, either to practise or race, I'm finding that, regardless of car or circuit, the engine is stuck at full revs, blowing up in seconds before I can even engage gear. I've had this problem occasionally before now and always been able to sort it by shutting down and going back in again. However, that remedy isn't working anymore, much to my frustration. I don't think that this is anything to do with the pedal kit as the same thing happens whether it's connected or not. Has anybody out there got any ideas to help? Thanks.

so I recently installed the Comodo Icedragon browser (because Chrome was too resource-demanding in general), and during the install I was also asked whether I want to install Comodo Cloud Antivirus. Thought to myself you know what, Avira is quite resource-damanding as well, so I might as well replace it and give the new antivirus software a try. Then right at the first GPL start I experienced small trouble because Comodo Cloud Antivirus has got a feature that runs .exe files in a specific mode, called "sandbox-mode", and GPL crashed instantly when it's started with that feature. So I deactivated that feature and everything runs fine now, with one exception: Every time I enter a race, the track takes an eternity to load; the bigger the track files, the bigger the time it takes. So I suppose that something slows the file loading/indexing. Now I could just look out for an alternative for my antivirus program, but it would be quite nice to stick with it because it's very light in terms of CPU usage. Does anyone know what might trigger that problem?
