Since getting this game about 2 weeks ago, I THINK? I have all the tracks & Mods I could find, maybe not. But I'm wondering, is there any closed cockpit mods for GPL? Like the old BMW's or Porsches's? Seems all I found are all open cockpit mods. Their great, but love the closed better. Just wondering. I'm surprised how popular this game still is over the 20 years, that more mods weren't made for this great game. Thanks !!!!!!!!!

Unlike most of post 2005 simulators, GPL was typical, mostly closed architecture game from 1990s, not designed for any modding (apart from adding tracks and editing simple stuff like textures). There also wasn't any open SDK ever built for it and no source code was legally/illegally released.

All you can see here is the result of dedicated (and desperate :D) community cracking / reverse-engineering the hardcoded game as much as was possible and making their own development tools from scratch. Needless to say the fact that any mods were made at all has been a major accomplishment in itself, but there will never be as many as in post-rFactor era, open architecture type games.

Are you sure you have all the tracks? There's over 500.

GPL is all about vintage GP cars. So, that's where the focus has been.

Could we ever have any cracking and reverse engineering to replicate this 🤔

Well, guess I don't have all the tracks, lol. I have maybe 30? Some links I did find for tracks are dead. Running out of sites to google.

Dead links while annoying and inconvenient stand as markers for what was there.
Sometimes all you get is an offer to sell a domain name.
Other times only part of a site or page remains.
Sometimes it all shows up on web crawler archives.
Then there is a small universe of sites and support that has sustained and continues to maintain Grand Prix Legends history.
Like here. (Happy to be a supporter).

If investigation of a dead link yields something relevant please post news of the find.
If you are looking for something, please post a note about it.

I havn't yet seen a track installer that is completely lost*. There is a thread for each track just ask in there and someone will be around to help.

Apart from Goodwood HC but that's another story

I would echo the above.  Dead links does not necessarily mean it's lost.  Post a request here at SRMZ and there is a good chance somebody will have a copy of any missing stuff.  (for example I have over 35Gb of GPL related downloads in my archive).

Oh yes, Goodwood HC - the one that got away.... saw it on the weekend, but didn't get a chance to drive it.

If you are looking for GPL tracks, as already mentioned, the only place you need to check is the Track Database http://gpltd.bcsims.com/ . You can also rate the tracks after you try them.
Plus ,it also has a section with all the links for the MODs

I have a question about mods for GPL - how do you manage them? I installed only 4 and already managed to break my game. And now I'm thinking to make separate installs for all mods. Is it a preferable way to deal with all the mods and tracks versions?
