Anything over, say, 7 miles? I've found a few but I know I must be missing some.

I mean Targa is the longest by a huge margin, right?

On the GPLTD you can search the tracks for "length" and "Short to long" and "Long to short".
Go to Search-> Track Search -> Advanced -> Sort options

*Targa 44.7mi
Gothica 11mi
B&Wwerk Collmberg-Rennen Saxonia 11mi
*Tandil 20mi
*Isle of Man 15.39mi
Jasper 12.43mi (rally stage)
Corsica 2003 12.27mi (rally stage)
*Machwerk and Machwerk at night 11mi
*Janakkala 12.65mi
Legion 13.14mi
Tronaasen Mountain Circuit 2010 8.13mi
Glacier International 13mi
Land Rover Testing Ground (rally stage) 9mi
Final Encounter 2002 (rally stage) 10.13mi
*Brno 1949 and Brno 1949 at night 11mi
*Schottenring 9.97mi
Harz 8.9mi
Legends Circuit 11.49mi
*Brno 1965 8.66mi
*Jokimaa 6.97mi
*Dundrod 1950 and Dundrod 1965 7.4mi
*Solitude 7.1mi

And there are many versions of Nurburgring too - normal, wet, hotlap, night etc.

Tracks with '*' are ones I particularly enjoy and recommend - not just a challenging drive, but great-looking scenery as well.

This is not a complete list. There are many other GPL tracks over 6 miles long which you can find with the Track Database search function, as Stefan mentions above. But IMO these are some of the most challenging.

As I got older I find it harder to remember all the turns in long tracks. Nurburgring is the longest track I drive now and that's only because I have a gazillion laps on it.

How about you old guys? Are long tracks getting harder for you?

I suck at learning tracks now. Like you the Nordschleife is the longest one I know from so many laps in GPL trying to get my GPLRank up. (I can still remember one in the 67 Lotus that was absolute sweaty palms, heart racing exhaustion at the end).

I like exploring the longer tracks. My big issue these days is picking out braking points. I used to be so good at it, now I suck.

Have you tried Lee's fantastic pace notes program. It comes with notes for Targa, Isle of Man and Nurburgring, but you can make your own for any track.

Funny you should mention that.   Like yourself I have a gazillion (maybe even a Brazilian) laps on  the Isle of Man but sometimes my mind drifts off to something else  and suddenly I'm not sure where I am on the track!!!   Is this a left or a right coming up?

Targa  ... I just use it to go for a Sunday drive (anyone remember these?) and admire the scenery and the monumental effort put in by the designers.   I usually take the Lancia D50 and it's a bit crowded with the Missus, the kids and the dog.   There's a nice ice cream shop at Campofelice we like to stop at and cool our feet in the sea while the D50 recovers some braking.

Now, why was I writing this?

Hmmmm think I'll have a nap.

I used to try that. I'd get a bunch of country tracks and just go for a slow drive. The problem is i'm not good at driving slow and before I knew it I was going all out. The problem was I didn't know the tracks and i'd crash.

Another failed idea.

Same here.    I can even hear my wife and kids screaming over  the D50 exhausts!   Takes concentration to shut them out.

Glad it's not just me. I try to go for a leisurely drive, but the impulse to go just that little bit faster turns into going hell for leather around blind bends you don't remember and winding up wrapped around a tree.

I've only managed to finish ONE LAP of Targa. That was in the Race 07 version, in a Mini.

As much as this might be a sin here, I picked up Forza Horizon 4 on PC a couple of weeks ago. Idiot Xbox Live network connectivity aside, if you like leisurely driving through the countryside, this game is for you. Everything from hypercars down to Robin Reliant's. Got mine decked out in my Trotter's Independent Traders colors. Online everyone is hooning around in Pagani's, McLaren's and Lambo's and here I am as Del Boy

I've only ever managed one lap, in a Mini in GTR Evolution/Race 07. Never managed in another sim. Maybe I should give GPL's a go again since I can at least reset the car if I go off, which I invariably will.

Targa isn't that difficult.
After the small straight there is a corner, 75% a right one follows on a left  one :shh:

Its about a half hour drive.
Imagine you drive home after a day's work,
you wil remember it pretty soon when you drive it every day.

So my advice would be,  for 2 weeks one lap a day  (dokters recipe) :unwell:

Darn, forgot about that! :P

The Alfa is probably the best car to drive Targa with the least risk of killing yourself at the next turn.

You are a better man than I SPman . I'll get 3 or 4 kilometers and the lose it. I do get back on the track and I enjoy this great track but frustration eventually sets in and I give up. I know that eventually I'll get it. lol I need to control my need for speed and do a few laps going slowly but for some reason unknown to me my right foot turns to lead. Oh well,c'est la vie !!! :hithead:
