I have GTR2 installed through Steam. I don't like Steam, and I want to get rid of it. I tried to do that once, and it took my GTR2 install with it. Even though I had a no-cd installed.

I don't really care about Steam, or GTR2 now. I like P&G much better. I know I needed GTR2 installed to install P&G, but do I still need it now? If I delete Steam and GTR2. Will if affect P&G?

Set Steam so it doesn't start on Windows start-up.

Create a desktop shortcut to the gtr2 exe.  You can now run GTR2 from this without running Steam, though Steam is still on your hard-drive.  It doesn't take up much space.

I can run GTR2 now without starting Steam David. I'm just not interested in running it anymore. I like P&G much better, and only want to run it. Along with GPL, and the L49 in iRacing.

I don't want to delete Steam/GTR2 if it will mess with P&G.

I think you need GTR2 installed to keep P&G mod working. I guess P&G mod uses the graphical engine of the GTR2 or something like that, and this makes you need lot of files that are in GTR2 installation.

Maybe you could erase some files of GTR2 which P&G mod doesn't use, but don't do it yet.

I don't know much about this topic so wait for another's answers.

TurboMan is right.  P&G is a mod for GTR2 so it needs GTR2 to run.

When installing v3.0 there is the option to make it "stand-alone" i.e remove the GTR2 cars, but its too late for that now.

You could uninstall GTR2, then re-install GTR2, P&G 3.0 and update to 3.1 if the GTR2 cars really are an issue.

I'm also running Steam only when I need it.  I don't need Steam every day (or even every month).

For PnG, use the v3.0 full installer's option #1 to create a copy of the needed GTR2 files.  If you point (browse) the GTR2 source path to Steam-GTR2 (e.g. "C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\GTR 2 - FIA GT Racing Game" or what ever your Steam path is), the files will get copied from there.  After that the Steam-GTR2 is not needed anymore, unless you need to reinstall everything again for reason or another.

And of course after the v3.0 full installer comes the new v3.1 updater.. :)

*If* you want to use the installer option#2 for some reason, then you need first to copy the Steam-GTR2 manually to somewhere else than under Steam path *before* running the full installer.

That's what I was thinking. I knew P&G needed GTR2 to be installed when I installed P&G. I wasn't sure if it needed it after that. I'm sure I choose the #1 option which was recommended. I've also installed 3.1, and everything works perfect.

Ok, here I go to uninstall Steam and GTR2. My fingers are crossed. I really don't want to install everything again.

Everything uninstalled, and P&G still works perfect. I'm a happy camper now.
