Very interesting how you can see the future Zandvoort layout in the roads there through the dunes - and they could even have made the track a bit longer and utilised some of the 1930s layout backwards, without too much extra effort!

Osca, that is a beautiful track map of the Torino 1937 circuit.  I had never gone back to look at the difference between that layout and the 1955 layout that we have for GPL.

Thank you for your interesting 'history lessons'.   :)

there are quite a few layouts in that park, 6 or 7 kind of well established, but others shorter for other events have been reported
1935, 1937 then 1946 and 47-48, this two almost identical with maybe a difference of 10m or less and then 1952 and the 1955, but then in between years apparently there were other kinds of events and layouts not all giving a very conclusive layout, some descriptions and some measurements, but those are not very reliable as the way of doing those were sometimes very loose and a report of one distance can be off in reality by quite a margin,  for example Forli and Lido which I have been working on for well over a year, are not really what they seem in some places that maybe put a map and distance but the two don't add up too well, even with street maps provided, programs with drawings, with maps of the time or some aerials, the reported distance can be off by 300, 500m or more on a very small layout, so it is a matter of keep digging until something that makes a little more sense and proved within a reasonable margin of error can be done

most likely than not, maps or drawings from back in the day are a rough indicator and usually distances are wrong or if they are a conversion, is either done wrong or rounding on a very loose way

One track I'd be interest in seeing come to GPL, just cause how extreme the banking of the track is :)

It's interesting that from the original Automobile World Championship the tracks were mostly oval based - yet now oval racing is seen as primarily American:

1925 - Indy (oval), Spa (road), Montlhery (roval), Monza (roval)

1926 - Indy (oval), Miramas (oval), Lasarte (road), Brooklands (oval), Monza (roval)

1927 - Indy (oval), Montlhery (roval), Lasarte (road), Monza (roval), Brooklands (oval)
