I'm know little to nothing about rally cars and how the codriver verbally reads the stage notes to the driver other than what I've read online.
It doesn't seem too difficult for someone to make a set of sound files and a TrackSounds.ini file which would verbalize the upcoming turns on a track such as the Targa, or the Ring, or the Isle of Man.
TrackSounds has no restriction on the number of different sound files. At first glance, a set of 30 or so simple sound files would probably work. Currently, the program only allows 20 different track segments where a sound can be played. However, I could modify it to allow as many track segments as necessary. For example, the Targa supposedly has 567 turns so in theory, someone could make a TrackSounds.ini file with a codriver instruction before each turn.

The Ring has "only" 174 turns.
The only limitation is that TrackSounds has to load the sound just prior to it being played. So multiple sounds spaced closely apart might not work depending on the user's PC...only testing would verify.

Where a section of corners are linked together it is often useful to be told the whole upcoming sequence so you know if it will get tighter or open out and be warned of any dangers. As a first step for learning Targa or Nurby or IoM a first step could be simply to add warnings before certain dangerous corners where you find you regularly fall off of the road to remind you to take things a bit easier there.

Is anyone here at SRMZ interested enough in this to work on it?

Copilotus was a similar program released in 2004. It was less streamlined than this new one, and needed driver activation of each sound segment. If inspiration is needed, for a sound artist to take on the challenge, there are 2 track examples made for it on this Site.

I'm like Greg and my plate is already full so someone here at SRMZ will have to step up to get sounds and make a .ini file for TrackSounds to broadcast stage/pace notes. So far, no one seems interested in doing that.

An audio track describing a track, could be played through a drivers earplugs. So no problem anticipated there, for the realism police.

Just got around to testing this. Unfortunately it doesn't work for me. As soon as I start GPL I get the "Deactivated" sound.
I have tried the following all with the same result.
- Starting GPL with GEM+2 (as per your notes, I wasn't surprised it didn't work).
- Tried running gpl.exe directly for various mods, including 1955 (gplc55.exe).
- Turned off all other options (Pribluda, head movement, no letterbox).
- My gpl.exe has the 4gb patch so I tried reverting to the previous gpl.exe and rebuilding the mod executables
I am running on Windows 10 (recently rebuilt, so up to date). I guess there is some incompatibility. Can you suggest anything else to try?
