Update  :)

All models have been converted from 3ds to GPL.
I'm now working my way through all 8 cars to tidy up the last 3d problems.
M8C is done, the rest will follow.
In between the skins need some finetuning.
After this run it is a matter of adding physics and testing, testing and again testing.

Some pictures of 66 Canam progress as well  :D

Wow Martin,

it looks better and better and better... :punk:
CanĀ“t wait, go on!
I hope the mod is not so much polyheavy for my old machine as you said.

Same thing here... at some tracks I've framerate hit when starting at the back of a full grid, even using Nigel's OGL v2

In any case, AMAZING WORK!

Wondering which track the last screenshot is from? The one with the blue and red cars.

The Gurney car (no 30), Chaparral & the '71 grid are at Edmonton.
The white T70 (no 8) is at St Jovite
The 2 Mclarens Mk1A's (black and red no's 5) are at Testtrack (the fog experiment before the v2 rasterizers)
The rest are all taken at Mosport  ;)

Concerning the demands on your system:
I have a Pentium 4, 3.00GHz, 1GB Ram with an Ati Radeon X300SE 128MB
Atm i have few stutters and probably could tweak that to zero (never bothered up till now)
Anything lower could have a problem i guess. These cars take loads of poly's.

Optimising the poly's is possible but could easily take a year to do by just one person.
Since i already worked almost a year on the conversion it's not likely i'm going to work another year on that painstaking job (hey it is supposed to be a hobby not work  :P )

But there are some other options we will try to ease the strain on your system, can't promise that it will be enough for everybody though  ;)

Probably you could enable antialliasing when you take these preview pictures. Without it pictures looks sooo sooo UGLY.

Without the pictures you wouldn't see what they look like.
Without Martin there wouldn't be cars converted ready to take pictures of them.

some people, pfff
anyway, i think martin must be a nutter to fiddle with .3do voluntarily, so not using aa (i have never used aa unless i had like +200fps, which isn't the case with gpl, ever) should be neglected. just grab a beer or two and the alias will come by itself.

(warning the effect might be gone tomorrow though)

Just asking.

Wouldn't it be possible to release one or two complete cars? I mean to try them, if that's possible.

The screen shots do look wonderful :)
