The 1968 German GP is set with Wet Nurburgring and falling rain pack
from Mark Beckman's track & Magnus T excellent add-on :thumbup:

The 1968 Dutch & French GP would need work though-can't remember
if there were other wet races?  :hat-tip:

It's a nice idea, but to have an accurate 68 depiction you'd also have to adjust the 69x physics a bit I guess. Even when limited to the cars that are available, I'd say you'd also have to adjust the grip (reduced) and engine power (ditto). Otherwise you'd get the same laptimes as the 69 cars, of course.

But on the other hand, like 1966, you'd get a very diverse grid, enabling you to drive very different types of cars, which makes it more interesting (at least in my book ;) )

in 69x you have :
Engine = Climax S4 , Maserati V12 , Repco V8 , Ferrari V12 , BRM V12 , Ford DFV
14 cars and 28 slots

maybe we can rearranged to have differents cars and laptimes

There was rain at Spa in first half of the race. And surface was wet at Watkins Glen.

What Paul says is correct,is very difficult to create a physics.The only way is to play the first part of the season with the 67 physics and the second with the 69 and the wing. :D
BTW the work is welcome.

Maybe it would be possible by using a method similar to G Spinning & Co's 67 Historical Mod with a specific carset for each
race/track. With this method you might be able to do 67 physics for races before the wings, then 69xtra physics for the later
Grand Prix  races such as Francesco says in post#23.  :)

Guys, over at the GPL repository there is a private forum dedicated for a 1968 mod already, however we never started work on it. If you would be interested in doing a full blown mod with physics and graphics like the 69-Extra mod, you need to contact Dangermouse, MECH or Ginetto could let you in, I'm a lucky guy as I'm already in :D . I'd be willing to fill some gaps in the car graphics department, for instance Chris asked for a Honda RA301 with correct exhausts which I'm now looking into, as well as a Matra MS10 V12. Thanks to Irridux and you guys a lot of hard work for a potential mod is already done, it just needs a small team to put the parts together, as the mod team is currently tied up in other projects, most notably the 1955 mod. As my heart lies with the late sixties F1, I think it would be cool to finish the 65-66-67-68-69 saga :) .

Very exciting to hear about the 68 honda Tommie.

I have a proposal to make. If you are happy to put the cars that are needed together then I will start work on the graphics side of what we already have. I just don't have the time to learn how to do 3do editing properly and to be honest it seems too complicated for me anyway.

Into how much detail are you interested in going? I have attached a screen of how my 68 cooper looks and while it needs a bit of work it's acceptable and better than nothing to me. I have also added what stage my late winged matra MS10 is at.

If the mod teams busy then I'm not sure who could make the physics for it?

Might have to head over to the GPL repository if your happy to make the cars.

My plan for the Cooper was to start over with the car with a Lotus 49 tub and Eagle / McLaren M5a engine, and work from there. But the Cooper as it is now is acceptable for the time being :) . When there is a little team set up at GPLR we could try to talk to Richard Cooke to see what he can do for us. The problems we are hitting with the newer mods at the moment is more graphics related than physics, and many of the cars in the new 1968 mod already have developed physics in the 1967 or 1969-Extra mods, so maybe it's doable :) .

There are a couple things with car editing that are easy enough to do, cars have positioners for wheels and shifters and that sort of thing which you can move around easily :) . Adding stuff is more work but I hope to be able to do that :) .
