Don't know about the default setup, probably 2 seconds faster.

But I see three people have posted 1:27's with keyboard. Which is just amazing!

I can now drive 1:32:50 in Monza with the Standard-Setup! What can u drive with that - no matter if with keys, joystick or wheel?

With 3 gal of fuel.......high 1.28's.  It's the easiest track to drive and I never found the setup as important as other tracks. I'm sure Remco would be faster and the top fast guys would be in the 27's.

Holy sh... :). With the standard setup? I really thought I have sucked anything possible out of this setup and any better times than 1:32:00 have to have modified/improved setups. Maybe I should also mention that I drive with automatical shifting. Can this make such a difference?

:D

Answering your own questions is part of the fun...sort of like Myst.
Maybe one day you will see the ghost ship rise.

Be your own expert.
Test everything.
Then you won't go off following silly advice.

Plus its more fun to read answers than questions.

Guessing you will find that not using autoshift will help a lot once you get used to it.
You will be able to exactly place a shift when it is most benefit.
But really the question is whether either is more fun.

Autoshift is realistically accurate with the Chaparrals?

Pippen do you have any interest in getting a rumble pad or a wheel and pedals?
There's some links about game pads on gpllinks.org.
If you are thinking about that, make it a big priority.
For sure that would be way more fun.

Grand Prix Legends is not a game. It is an accurate auto racing simulator and is easy to drive competitively once skills are mastered.
No one just jumps in without a clue and challenges the best times over 19 years.
Part of the fun is finding your own interest, setting your own goals, meeting your own challenges.
There is lots of room for that.

Remco is one of the best.
So is Pete.
Their years of experience have only netted a few seconds better than Pippen on a keyboard.

So how difficult is it to get good at Monza?

1:31,98 with Standard-Setup, Automatical Shifting, Grand Prix car - realistic damage. Just for fun I claim that nobody with a keyboard can better than :P.

Well, with Standard-Setup and Keys and Automatical Shifting...I dunno if there's someone who can beat 1:31,98 in Monza (Training). Do you think good players are faster under these conditions?

Well, even if, only because of being probably the only driver using defaultsetups/keys/autoshift.
But don't just rest on laurels.
Try it with linearity slider set all the way to the right.

And Raoni uses autoshift!

This is allways a mess when the pole man in an online race does not accelerate as with manual shifter....

Yes.

Are u positively sure that with standard setup, with keys and with automatical shifting someone is faster than 1:31,98? Obviously a lot of veterans of this game are faster, almost 4s faster, but also with my restrictions? I am just curious (and I am proud a bit to put up such a time after about two weeks of having GPL^^).

Let me ask you this? Keeping everything the same as you have it now, but practicing for 10 more years, Do you think you'd be faster? Then imagine someone else doing that, but who has more natural skills than you. That's who you'd be competing with.

I couldn't drive with keys at all. I tried it once when I had to send in my wheel for repair and could barely stay on the track, so your time seems good for just two weeks. However, there's some very talented guys driving GPL and for me to think you're as fast as all of them in just two weeks is more than I can believe.

I seem to remember one of the top drivers saying he'd only be about 1 second slower if he used the default setup. He does 1.26 laps at Monza with his setup. So, using the default setup isn't as much of a handicap as you might think. Using modified setups will give a bit more speed, but mostly they're just more comfortable to drive for us. I once drove the default setups to see how fast I could be and was really surprised how fast I was. They were very uncomfortable to drive though. Too much understeer and the BB was way too far forward for me. Other than that they weren't that bad.

I'm not sure how much auto shift is slower? Monza doesn't have a lot of shifting. so it's not a lot. You're probably using brake help too, and that will be a bit slower too.  I think with enough practice you could break 1.30 at Monza with your setup. However, I think you should buy a wheel if you can and drive GPL as it should be driven.
