Only one thing has me slightly confused. I don't remember seeing the "GPL Tire Pressure Bug Fix Patch" before. I've searched SRMZ for any mention of it, and I can't find any discussion of the patch itself anywhere. I can only find some passing references to the bug in threads which discuss optimum tire pressures, temps and grip levels.

I'm assuming that the patch works with all GPL mods, and so the xml file should be installed in "\GPLSecrets\GEM+\Options\" - is this correct?

Also, from reading (or re-reading) the tire pressure threads, it seems that I'm using tire pressures for all the mods which are a bit below the theoretical optimum. Mine are usually set around 20 to 22 psi, except for the heavier GT/Sports cars where I've ended up around the 24 psi mark. If I activate your patch, are there any particular signs I should watch out for to show that I'm getting better grip? Are the Pribluda tire temps/colours still the best guide to tell me that I'm getting the best out of the tires?

If you could point me to any discussion of the patch which I might have missed, that would be great. If there isn't one, maybe you would consider starting a new thread in one of the sections of "Grand Prix Legends Files" to give a little more info on the patch, as the readme seems a little bit brief.

Hi Saiph and glad you like the website.

To answer your questions, the pressure bug fix patch corrects a minor error in the original gpl.exe code where pressure is used to adjust the tire's stiffness value.  The code always uses 24 psi for the optimum pressure which is incorrect for all mods including the rear tires on the '67 F1 cars.  This patch simply substitutes optimum pressure in place of 24 psi.  You won't find much difference with this patch, but I think the cars handle slightly better.  My website contains an article on where to place patches so go read that.

There are no signs with this patch that you are getting better grip as the patch doesn't directly affect grip.  The original code has always used optimum pressure correctly to adjust grip.

I just hope that I can get the Sound Player to work again.  I had it installed for ages but it's gone MIA for some time now.  Can't say why.  Fingers X'd.

Good luck with Sound Player.  To be honest, I haven't used it in years so I'm not even sure it will work with later Windows versions.  It served a purpose when many people were making engine sounds as it allowed easy listening to each sound and swapping out sound sets.  But today, no one except Wolfgang makes sounds so it really isn't useful.

Great idea Lee.  It'll be very handy to have all of those things available in one place to easily find.

I also enjoyed the "about me" part of the page.  I didn't know you are a pilot and that you flew a F-4.  Very cool!

Thanks so much for all youve done
Ive used the sound player years ago.
When I came back from my cave will try the head and the letterbox patch. Probably 55 mod release will do the trick. Real life will have to wait a bit!

Many thanks Lee for this site (immediately in my bookmarks!) and for all work about GPL! :thankyou: :thankyou:

A little signaling, in the "Suspension Information" the 1° figure is not visible, all other figures works correctly

Lee, in the section:

GPL Patch Information

Patches may be placed in three different locations and their utility is different with each:
 1. Mod Installation Directory/Mods/GEM+/Mod Physics Directory--the patch will always be used by this mod. Most mod patches use this method.

I would add: The first time that you place the patch here, make sure to delete the mod EXE (for example gplc67.exe) so that GEM can rebuild that mod EXE and apply the patch.

I'll add that note Bob.

Lalethor, you're correct that Figure 1 isn't showing for some reason on the website.  It shows on my build files though...???

Here it is until I can correct the error.

I can't see any changes using the Head Movement Patch for the in-cockpit view.

That's the ONLY view where there is no head movement.... because it's your head.
