I'm driving the GPL '67 cars.I race against the AI drivers and when the race is over a newspaper picture comes up. How can I save it to a file? And can I save any screen shot in the same manner? I'm sure it has been covered before but I cannot find it anywhere. Would someone help with this in simple language because I'm not too savvey when it comes to computer stuff, any help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Fraps. No need to buy full version if it's for Screenshots only.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, I didn't know you have to download software to do this. Is that the only way? I mean the folks at Sierra didn't see this coming? They didn't give us a way to do this without a third party? :idunno:

They implemented making screenshots as .pbf-Files using the 'Print Screen' key, but this doesn't work with the OGLv2. Dunno if it's the same with D3Dv2.
If you're still using the old rasterizers you may also use print screen key and afterwards paste into a a program like IrfanView or MSpaint.

But if you are e.g. watching a replay and want to do a series of screenshots you need something external.

If you are using "Vista", you will find the "Snipping tool" available, which you can use to save whole or part pages.
It may be packed with "7" or not , I don't know. It isn't in XP.

For all my screenshots - games, internet, error messages, etc. - I use an "oldie but goodie" designed for Micro$oft FlightSim:  FSScreen;  it will save fullscreen bmp or jpg to a folder of your choice, just hit the PRT SCRN key.  It is also tiny (24k) and only uses about 400k memory.

Just remember to disable it before using graphics software or it will intercept copy/paste commands from them.

I've used FSScreenshot (v1.1) for years.  But recently found out that it doesn't work with my system and Windows 10 (for GPL only, all other programs it works as advertised).  I just get a .bmp with a black screen.
Also, you (jgf) mention that you can save either as a .bmp or .jpg.  Mine only saves as a .bmp. and I don't see any menu that offers a choice.  Even the read-me file says that you can save pictures in a different directory ... but I don't see where that choice is available either.  Sooo, any recommendations?

I am also running Windows 10 (64-bit).

I used the full version of FRAPS, but it does not work properly anymore with Win 10.
The Latest release: Fraps 3.5.99, February 26th, 2013.
I guess it would need a new version to fully work with Win 10.

For Windows 10 I use:
For desktop screenshots I use the Windows "Snipping Tool" that comes with Windows 10.
You can find it under Apps -> Windows Accessories -> Snipping Tool or use the Windows search function.

For ingame screenshots (and video capturing) I juse Bandicam: https://www.bandicam.com

FRAPS works fine for me - OGLv2, Windows 10 64 bit, FRAPS v.3.5.99, build 15619, saving as *.bmp

Thanks for the information.  Isn't it nice how GPL continues to require "special" attention?  I wonder what possible differences there are in the Windows 10 / FSScreenshot relationship, that a simple program that works in all other cases no longer functions with GPL.  Not a complaint really, just mystified!
